who would've thought a clarinet could bring tears. There is a point in this song I feel is one of the most perfect sounds I've heard. At 1:07

Moon Child i don’t hear it as a siren call so much as an ode to a great friend who maybe came a little too close. I hear the regret and the sentimental gratefulness for having shared an encounter of a sort, where hers was his and his was hers, be it in a brief dream, now over. Knowing she probably won’t ever see him again, but remembering him fondly. Pure reminiscing. I think a siren would half want you to crash on the rocks, come to some demise, or something nuts, but I don’t hear that in her voice whatsoever. It doesn’t seem like she would wish any harm on him, just because he wasn’t there. It seems more gentle, mature, honoring him, looking back with a bit of nostalgia fondly and seeing how he stood out in her mind’s eye, but also she sings with remorse, regret, longing, for whatever reason it didn’t work out. She still seems to think of him as her beloved friend. She’ll hold the memory close for years to come, and past/through other lovers. Something special for those two that will probably remain like an open wound, or like an unplanted seed. I guess sirens are also wounded, as you say, though, too. Maybe you are right,. Idk.

can someone translate this, looks like I should understand this.

My eyes and your eyes, oh, those beautiful stones mine is yours and yours is mine, you know what I mean. A long time ago I saw him, truly beautiful was he, all that could ever enrich one man, he truly carried over all crowds. I miss you more than all. tired of endless tears, oh, that we had never seen each other, my beloved friend. -These are the verses Björk sings. Most versions of the song will only include these three. In truth it's actually less than half of the song, but here are the other verses translated as well in case you are interested.- Never again I saw one like him an arrow to my heart. Only God knows I loved him from every fathom of my heart. Although frozen hot geysers, cover valleys and glaciers, talking stones and all that is, I shall never forget you. Quickly the eye is clear of tears, trust parted to into pieces, this heart of mine is maimed, betrayal is hard to endure. Best of all I know your bloom, kindness deep within you. Farewell my Eyjafjörður, more beautiful than all land. I remember our last meeting, ancient though love withers. Now it's like a hound and dog met on top of a fox den.

Looking to the side, KZbin is very tellingly suggesting me that I may also like "I am just a gigolo". Go figure.
