Indeed very useful information for buyers. There are aspects and functions which are not given by those selling EQS or other EV. Thus your real life presentations are important. I knew nothing about EQS but I ordered immy .....not yet delivered... only because by simply looking at it I realized this is a jump to completely new approach leaving the past. It is also a signal that MB is given to EV market that comfort, quality and luxury cannot be ignored and that accelleration is not the only feature EV must have. I am glad that you outlined such things. Wish you succes , well done.

Great looking car... The driver lane assist distronic extended restart in stop and go traffic (auto pilot) is better than Tesla in some ways... Very impressed so far. Yes, I own one of these.... and traded my Model 3 performance for it... And it even came with a steering wheel!

I found that if you use the Eq menu and select a charger there you can also get it to preheat the battery. But it just shows the closest chargers so you have to scroll for ages.

Love your videos Bjorn. I watched when I first got a model S in 2015 and thet were so helpful. I now have a Taycan Turbo S after owning 2 model S's and after 18 months I really don't like it. I've ordered an EQS and I'm really excited. I looked at the Lucid Air, but I am in England and there is no right hand drive version yet and no date planned. Also no service structure. They are planning to open a showroom in Munich in March and that's it. Also seeing a lot of blogs where buyers are having problems. Mercedes seems the best option and a fantastic car. Who doesn't love a car that has power nap button. Thanks again. The videos were so helpful when I was an early adopter of electric cards and they are really entertaining as well. Simon

Like the winter focus of the test. One more thing I would like to see is short winter drives, how bad is the consumption if you just hop in and drive 10km in the city. Could also test preheating performance, such as consumption and time to defrost the car.

Regarding the "keep climate on" for 30 mins. ID.4/Enyaq/BMW i3 asks you when you open driver door if you want to keep it on and then you can activate it. Missing this in IONIQ 5/EV6!

Could you describe to me once again dear Björn what you meant with preconditioning the battery for the charger after the next and not for the charger where you want to go? I didn't understand what you wanted to say. Because if I want to go to a charger why doesn't the car preheat battery for this charger? So what was the "trick" for not coldgating in your eyes? He said that if you put a charger as destination the car will not precondition the battery for it. The car preconditions the battery only when it sees that your destination is to far for the available battery and will automatically choose a charging point on the way for you, only in that situation the car preconditions the battery.( witch sounds like a dumb way Mercedes)

Sounds like Mercedes hit this one out of the park. I remember when Tesla had a minor partnership with Mercedes. The stalks and buttons in the p85 are Mercedes’. I think this is how the model S should be. I appreciate some of the minimal look in teslas but they need a flagship car. You don’t expect the Y to be super luxury but I do for the S

Have daily driven a P85 for four years now, 230k km on the clock and still running smoothly. The stalks and window buttons from Mercedes have definitely stood the test of time. Lovely air suspension (rumoured to be from Merc too!) as well

When they would have so many options they would not be able to deliver in a couple of weeks. At Mercedes it takes too long for a new car. When I wanted to order mine I had to wait up till 10 months… Ordered a model X that was there in just a bit over a month…

Yes, it will be interesting! There is info that IONIQ 5 will get battery pre heating via software update somewhere in first half of 2022. A test before and after software update can be interesting too.

Hey Björn, when I went to Geilo at the end of October 2016, (Tesla S85D from Germany) the Navigation led me from Oslo (previous destination) to the SuC in Drammen (I belive?) and from there via Rödberg and Dagali to Geilo (not Gol, was my mistake, should have entered Gol as destination not Oslo) I thought I never would get to Geilo and almost missed the meeting. They started to remove the food from the Buffet, but one of the Cooks got me a huge plate of food from the galley. The Route via Dagali would be a "Reality-Winter-Ride" to do. Next, I could not charge at the Hotel with my MCU because of the different Norwegian electricity-wiring. But then the Hotel sendt me to another Resort they were owing, where they had DeC`s. Like your videos !!

@@tootallno non tesla stations are shit, expect for charge point. The problems with charge point is they max out at 50kw. Superchargers are plentiful in Ontario, so Tesla is really the only option if you want to drive anywhere. Even going to Barrie from Toronto and back is difficult especially in winter when range suffers. Hopefully this changes but for long distance, tesla the only real option.

Way more lux EVs coming. This is seriously the only lux EV in the market today. From ICE, the 7 series rides much better than the S series :) Anyone considering a lux EV should wait until the other OEMS are out with their own lux EV. In ICE this car competes with 7 series and A8. Lexus LS is also in this segment.

They ain't opening it. It's a PR stunt from Tesla. They have said they will open for everyone for years. Latest earnings call Elon said he will not open for all EVs before the SC-network grows at a faster rate than their car production. That's not happening annnnytime soon. Tesla needs to keep this for them self, if not, a lot of people will choose another EV than Tesla, myself included. I hope they open, but it's not gonna happen for yeeeears, if ever.

It's the first EV that impressed me so much, but I still can't get over the fact they didn't put heat pump in it. They put so much effort into aerodynamics and so on, why lose energy by climate control? Does it have any other way to use energy from drivetrain for heating?

I saw a german youtuber asking mercedes about it. They simply said that the battery is so large, that the better efficiency is not needed. Maybe a bigger and warm battery also produces enough heat anyway that you can use for the passenger, but not sure about that.

The reasoning I got from Mercedes is that they have heat scavenging so heat pump is not needed. I'm not totally convinced. Just look at Tesla and octovalve. Teslas are highly efficient in winter.

You seem to be missing the BIG issue with the EQS in winter: It has no heat pump. That is the reason why you get 25-30 kWh per 100 km during winter and 30 % less during summer. It is totally absurd an ev with the price of the EQS comes without heatpump. You cannot even option one. Painful and embarrassing for Mercedes - especially as the much cheaper EQA and EQB come with heatpump as standard.
