Thanks Bjørn for another great 1000 km challenge. Performance of the EQS 450+ was off the chart. It is amazing that it only took 5 minutes longer than a fossil car or battery swap EV. This video really showcases the benefits of efficiency and low aero drag. I agree that DC fast charging is actually better than battery swap, since you can do something else while charging.

yeah that moment was pretty awkward....one excuse could be that the internet connection is slow, because in many cases those calculations are not done locally but on a remote server. BUT if that would be the case a notificicaiton to the user would be needed!! waiting 20 seconds for nothing is really stupid. This is just a theory, could also be the case that there is just bug present.

@@tzarcoal1018 On AMuS the EQS 450+ also took ages to calculate, maybe the Hyperscreen has a more advanced faster processor & the 450(+) does not get the option of the hyperscreen.
@tzarcoal10182 жыл бұрын
@@AOTanoos22 That is the case, the Hyperscreen Models do indeed have a faster processor and more RAM. I think it is a pretty insane amount, 24GB of RAM if i remember correctly. But really that can* not be the reason. Because the hardware on the "small" screen models is not at all bad either ( 16GB of ram (and still an octocore i believe), plenty enough to do this route optimisation task. For me it looks like it has to be bad software, (not an expert on infotaiment systems, but i am working as a programmer). The hardware itself really should not be the issue here*, there plenty of systems doing okay with less, i think that the EQS is one of the cars with the most potent hardware riht now ( both versions) I am pretty sure the calculation is done remote on a server. They did a poor job on at least one location be it in the process on the server or in the car. If the internet is two bad to transmit enough data, do a timeout and then a feedback to the user, so he knows what is up. * However the whole system is using containers quite a lot, so the navigation has of course much less RAM available. So it could be still possible that the difference spec mean different amount of RAM available for the nav, meaning weird bugs only accuring in the slower version. STILL in my vied its a bug and should be fixed, the "slower" hardware in the "small" screen models is way to powerful to be an excuse. PS: the spellchecking is not working atm, i type pretty fast and sometimes sloppy and english is not my fist language so excuse any spelling errors.
@AOTanoos222 жыл бұрын
@@tzarcoal1018 yes that makes sense and i agree, i was thinking the same, the hardware on the 450+ is plenty and powerful enough, in fact the 450+ uses the same hardware as the top-end O-LED S-class version and when the S-class got revealed they showed off how they had the fastest hardware back then from Nvidia and even the Nvidia CEO himself (Jen-Hsun Huang) presented the S-class‘ infotainment system and kept saying how powerful the infotainment system is. 4:43 I'm pretty sure that's a bug or a input data issue. I've seen EQS optimizing about 50 times now and it never took that long. Usually it takes only a couple seconds longer than a Tesla, which is to be expected since Mercs take meterological effects and topology into account, which Teslas don't or at least didn't back when I observed the reference time. 5:27 What happened there is that it aborted the operation after some threshold time value was reached. Maybe it got stuck in loop bc of false data about the road network with its closures and detours.

Hell Yeah! That's what I'm talking about! Only 5 minutes of difference across 1000 km that's nothing! Now imagine a few drivetrain improvements for even higher efficiency and 800V so it isn't limited to 200 kW and those 5 min will melt away. Btw I think it might've been even a tad faster if you just did two charging stops from 5-70%. That's the optimal window if you take into account 5 min per charging stop of detour and plugging in. Shame the automatic route planner had a bug at first. Might've been fixable if you restarted the car but shouldn't have occured in the first place.

With a battery almost 50% bigger not a huge difference 😉 Plus RWD By the way in real life 700 km a day is more realistic 6 hrs. is enough
