Your points about Tesla and legacy manufacturers is so true. We had 2 Audi Q4 when launched in the Uk mid last year. We switched one into Tesla Model 3 SR in December that you are driving in the vid and it’s night and day with regard to cold weather driving. The other Q4 has gone and Tesla Model Y coming soon, although that doesn’t get an LFP

@@sunejepsen there is a big difference. The Q4 was doing 4 miles/kw in the summer and around 2 miles/kw when it got cold (7c or less - which I know isn’t cold!). The Tesla over 5 when warm and still over 4 when below freezing…👍

Would you agree the build quality, fit and finish is night and day worse on the Tesla? Or the auto wipers? Or auto main beam dipping? I’d agree the Model 3 is more efficient but it’s not good enough to warrant changing. The MEB platform is getting an update soon that doesn’t heat the battery until it’s needed so the winter efficiency will be much better.
@witbosch

@@scottwills4698 Nope, I wouldn't agree with you statement about build quality, fit and finish. Almost everything is optional in a Q4. And included in a M3.
@1simontebbutt
@1simontebbutt 2 жыл бұрын
@@scottwills4698 before the Tesla I had Audi cars for 15 years, I can honestly say no problems on build with the Tesla. If anything I was disappointed with the Q4 interior feel which felt like a lower range car from several years ago. No probs with the wipers, but the auto “matrix” lights are no where near as good as Audi. That said, as the hardware is there I’m sure software at some point will sort that, although the auto dipping is a bit rubbish now!

Great video as always. Just drove my Spectre ( Model 3 LR) from Prague to Szczecin in Poland today. 510km in 5.5 hrs with 3-5 degrees, snowstorm in northern CZ and rain throughout and enormous wind, mainly sideways and head wind. c9nsumption was a flat 200Wh/km. About 50% of the time at 120kmh (which was 220Wh/km compared to normally 200Wh/km this winter. Will go back doing mainly 110kmh since the conditions are anyway not great and see how much difference it makes. For now it seemed substantially (like 170Wh/km at 110kmh). So seems to fit your results in a just regular day setup, nothing planned.

10:55: Delta 150kW Ultra-Fast Chargers comes with optional a 200A or 400A CCS cable. Mer have almost exclusively two 400A CCS cables on their chargers, while BKK mostly have one 200A and one 400A per charger. The 200A cable is better for some older people whom can have problem with the heavier 400A cable.

We have today a lot of good and driving cars the european export to africa where they get recyceled or just not get touched, because nobody wants those cars anymore. honestly if you like making several short stops on long trips like I do..range is not an issue and charging speed beats the LR there is still a few scenarios that don't work that well with an EV like a 200+200miles day trip where you stop at a place without charging. but hey if you need to stop 15-20 minutes at a supercharger it's not the end of the world. you would probably have stopped for gas anyway

this is very impressive. if I was shopping for a M3 I would get the SR+ LFP which is the best value, and compromise between charging speed, decent range, ability bro charge to 100% without dégradation. I'm just a bit surprised that the LR still outperforms by 45min. is it due to weather ? or not optimal stops ? according to charging speed tests, the LR does 20-80% in 33min , the LFP does 20-80%, meaning th LFP actually charges >15% MORE miles/min between 20 and 80% if the better result of the LR is due to using the higher peak charging speed at low SoC, the LFP could still be faster in real life, not draining bathe battery so close to 0%

I don't charge at home as I own an apartment & I park in the street (there is a public charger 50 meters from home). I was wondering if you could do a test of how much charge do you lose overnight (unplugged) with this car in cold & very cold temperatures? I have only seen 1 video from a guy in Saskatchewan but that was with an NCA pack (which I know are a bit better in winter) & he had sentry mode on for some reason, which definitely ruined the test. @@DG-uv3zw the late craze on SUVs isn't so much a manufacturer problem but a high income, don't give a shit about the environment people that buy the cars. Like a Hyundai boss said a couple of years ago: "Electric cars are great, they make it so we can sell SUVs that we can make money from." Essentially saying people overpay for SUVs. A bit like Elon Musk saying that model y will be 10% bigger than model 3 so it'll cost 10% more. At the same time he had already said they share 75% of the components which should conclude that 25% of the components are 10% bigger,a 2,5% increase in cost if components had a 1:1 cost ratio. In reality, the chassi isn't the most expensive parts.

Thumbs up. Andreas Haehnel did a 1000km test for a 60kWh MIC LFP SR last night in 9h 17minutes. He had basically perfect conditions with a temperature of 22 degrees, unrestricted clear autobahns, pre-heated battery and fast chargers delivering maximum possible charge all the way. His only issue was somthing about cruise control not working at 170kmph.

@@bjornnyland Acknowledged, but a lot of Germans and Dutch think in terms of how quickly can I get to Berlin, Stuttgart, Hannover or Munich which are at the four corners of the Country or down to the Riviera and it is impressive to see any EV being able to cover big distances in similar times to a 3 series or C class.

Hei Bjørn, for cars that charge reasonably fast, the speed you drive between the charging stops has a lot to say for the total time needed. You say that you drive speed limit + VAT. Do you keep VAT similar for all the different cars you test?

No

No? Then those cars tested with higher VAT will always have a shorter total time. Not really a fair comparison ...

does cabin temperature have a significant impact on the 1000 km time? do you usually keep all cars at a similar temperature in winter?
@bjornnyland
@bjornnyland 2 жыл бұрын
Not really. 3 Wh/km * 120 km/h = 360 W which should be difference in temperature inside cabin. In 1000 km, 3 Wh/km = 3 kWh To charge 3 kWh, you need only 1-2 minutes

I had an Ioniq 38kWh and changed because of this to an ID.3 (Tesla not allowed as company car). But the ID.3 has a very poor consumption compared to the ioniq. Depending on the situation, its always 2...5kwh/100km more. I wonder what the car does with the energy. I want back the Ioniq with just a better battery.
