It cant be the eridian homeworld. Elpis crashes through some sort of forcefield that made the planet invisible. We already visited the eridian homeworld of nekrotafeyo in bl3 where it had nothing like that. My theory is that this planet actively didnt want to be found and the crash is whats going to finally ignite the war that the Watcher warned us about in the end of the pre sequel. This is even more likely since the text at the end translates from the eridian language to "Break Free" and "He is Watching" in which im assuming is talking directly about the watcher but "break free" could kinda mean anything. Also i saw people in other videos say it was an eridian that picked up the mask but personally i think the arm looked a bit too mechanical for that to be the case.

I do hope Borderlands 4 would answer some questions why would a great and technologically/arcane advanced race would just disappeared without any reason whatsoever, as they are clearly capable or imprisoning OMEGA Threat Level entities, a serious threat their civilization imprisoned in various world's. but by my guess this story would just be another easter egg hunt for more breads and crumbs, just like Halo Infinite, 1 more complicated story to another without solving the previous unsolved problems. even I myself shouted top of my lungs "just give us what we wanted already!"

From the trailer it looks like some sort of multiversal event. Perhaps we’ll see the return of some previously dead characters like Roland, Handsome Jack, and Maya. It was much different than I expected and so I have a semblance of hope for the franchise yet. They can do some very interesting things here.
