Refilling the string on a Black and Decker corded or cordless trimmer is easy. And in this short video I'll show you how to do it step by step. First detach the battery to work safely.
On the bottom of the trimmer there are two orange tabs on the string enclosure. They're on both sides of each other. Squeezing these tabs will release the large orange cap. Now remove and discard the empty spool. Then on the string enclosure locate the opening for the string. On the new spool, make sure the side with the arrow is facing outwards and then roll out about 5 inches of the trimmer line. Insert the string through the small opening and then seat the new spool in place. You might need to rotate it a bit to make sure it's all the way in.

I felt it could of been more helpful in regards if we use any of the notches or holes in the wheel .. does the string just wrap around loose or do we use any of the notches

Are you referring to refilling the spool with a separate trimmer line? If yes then you can use either of the L-shaped cutouts in the empty spool to hold the end of the line onto the plastic spool. I would not wind it up loose. Also remember to wind it up according to the direction indicated on the arrow. For the purposes of my video it mainly explains pre-spooled trimmer line that simply inserts into the weeder tool.

My aftermarket trimmer line spool arrow is the opposite direction of the arrow shown on the trimmer itself. Is that a problem?
