Your filming is perfect. The zoom-ins are just at the right moments and I love that you show how to take the feathers. Il would love a beginner's playlist for salmon. Thank you

The work done on this fly in truly exceptional.

Just beautiful, and one of the best salmon patterns. That sparse wing moves better in the water than a bulky wing.

flies for salmon, steelhead, and saltwater fish always look more like art than a fishing lure to me, but i'm just a bearded head floating in space, what do i know?

Why are there not more flies using black bear?

What’s a good magnifier? I’m blind as hell and can’t see my flies very well. Any help is welcome

Could you do a video on how you organize your fly tying bench?

Nice tie Tim!! Question: Why do you prefer thread over floss? Even with 140 it takes so many wraps to shape the body. Just curious.
@tightlinevideo6 жыл бұрын
Just for control. When things go wayward with floss, I have a hard time correcting the problem without a lot of unwinding which I'm not a fan of. Also, my hands, for whatever reason do not do nice things to floss. I pretty much have to wear gloves if I'm working with it.

OK, know what you mean Tim. My wood-working, metal-working hobbies leave my hands too rough to handle floss unless I sand off some of the "catches" on my fingers first :-) I got away from the floss for a while (couple of decades LOL!) but now, since I do most of my tying on a rotary vise I am back to using it quite a bit - especially if I am building up an underbody to tinsel over. Found that cutting just enough floss to do the fly, tying it in and gripping it with hackle pliers I can quickly build a nice tight body using the rotary function of my vise. Cheers! Hank

tightlinevideo ..... the hands and fingers: I’m in the same boat! I shred floss and it’s a real pain. Good job I’m not a girl and wear stockings or tights!!!

Tie some sort of stocked trout nymph pattern

I know I am going to get crap for this but why not use yarn? It's cheap and easy to use. I use yarn when I got to sub.
@tightlinevideo6 жыл бұрын
Yarn is absolutely fine as far as I'm concerned, if fact I really like the look of it better than floss or thread, it's just not quite as traditional. A little segment of dubbing also looks good for the tag rather than thread. Go with what you've got.
