Welcome to my hometown, Wolverhampton. I down-to-earth, no-frills, rough and ready city. In my opinion this is the heart of the Midlands. Growing up in this area, Wolvo has always been a place with obvious problems, but the people are about as genuine as you could wish to meet. Kind hearted, honest and eccentric characters with a great sense of humour abound. Unfortunately, Wolves city centre is in poor decline. Once bustling, many of the streets of the centre are empty - full of boarded up shops and with very few shoppers. It was a sad sight for me to encounter on my return. I noticed some homeless people in the city and thought I could buy some survival essentials for them, so I ventured over to nearby Bilston market. Much to my surprise, the working class Black Country traditional market there was bustling and I was met with a very warm welcome. I think the video shows both the declining and deprived nature of the area offset by the kindness and generosity of the wonderful locals.

Your correct, the people of W,ton, are the salt of the earth. People who have the highest standards of behaviour and integrity. You rarely hear four letter words in this great city, unless a tradesman drops his toolbox on his foot. People here bend over backwards to assist you, and will starve, while giving you their last penny. I say a little pray each evening in thanks: for basically living amongst angels on earth 🙏.

What people of wolverhamton do you mean ? It's nothing like it was, even as lad during ww2 you could walk around the town without being stopped constantly by beggars, mugged etc,the streets were cleaner ,policeman were on view to make you feel ok .But wolverhamton is now like many towns and cities is a shit hole, the culture has been decimated by over immigration from so many nations has not been managed by LABOUR COUNCILS.NOW ITS TO LATE,OLD WOLVES IS GONE

I went Bilston Training Centre for a year (1992) and Wulfren College for 4 years. I spent a fair bit of time on busses 🤣 Bilstons yellow chips were a weekly treat. I would have beers around Dudley and Wolvo… clubbing there too. i stopped working there ten years later, never really been back. The Army Surplus store was great. Happy days i miss sometimes.

I enjoyed your video, thanks for helping the homeless people. I studied at the Wolverhampton University in the 90's and made many friends, unfortunately it was pre-facebook / social media, so I am only in contact with one ex-fellow-student from Carlisle..I sadly lost contact with my local friends from Wolverhampton (one was living in a caravan by the canal in Whitmore Reans and I helped him with his French studies! A nice fellow) . I still vividly remember when I came with my French Renault 4 on the first day, arriving late at night and driving on the right hand side by mistake in the city centre, coming face to face with the Police in their Peugeot 306. I thought they would give out ... lol instead they kindly brought me to the student housing near Molineux stadium.

Polticians are powerless to do anything to change the state of the UK. The banksters control the EU, the US and the UK but now we see the power shifting to the "global south" and if ever there was any prosperity for working folk, it's gone. All that is left is the street for many. Your generosity and concern for those people is an inspiration, showing us the truth behind the politicians lies. Keep up your great work Wendall, the world would be a much poorer place without you and others like you.

I could be wrong but I think the reason some areas are busy and some quiet is due to parking, some councils put the price up to much, especially if you only need an hour, and that puts people off the town centres when parking at supermarkets is free.

Like you,I grew up in Wolverhampton and now live in Cornwall. This video highlighted the spirit of the area but reiterated the impact of industrial decline. I also knew of Bruce when I worked in Wolverhampton. It’s good to see him still around as he is a lovely chap but sad to see life hasn’t got any easier for him. It’s very sad to see Wolverhampton continue to decline. I remember when it was much busier in the early 1990s. Thank you for sharing this video.

Black Country people are the best people ever, having lived in Canada for 12 years, I can't wait to get back to my homeland. If anyone dreams of coming to Canada, don't bother. It's like paying for a 5 star hotel but staying in a 2 star.

Nice, I met Brucie in the summer when he was actually in Bilston and when I asked if he needed something he asked if I could get him some soap so I'm not surprised to see him snap up the hand cleanser. My other half talks to some of the people who kip near the bus and train station when she's taking the youngest to school I know the people who visit Bilston and Willenhall a bit more. Thanks for showing these places and folks Wendall and glad you made it back to visit.
