Im optimistic that it was just the coolant burping itself to get to correct fill level. How about a compression check or checking for combustion gasses in coolant? If you have the time, that would be another good video.

Yeah I've thought about snagging a bottle of the diesel specific test fluid... we'll see.

I think you may get better results with the 5x12 sac injectors than the ones that came in it. Would be interesting to see

Blue haze on idle is incorrectly vaporized fuel. Look at your injectors and a slight increase in opening pressure and an overhaul of the injectors will help. Also that needs slightly earlier injection timing as it takes slightly longer to build the higher pressure.

The idle haze started about a week in. It was clean prior. I actually think the timing at idle is a little too advanced causing spray slightly outside of the bowl which will also cause smoke. I'll clean these up for spares but I've got a nice set of injectors built by DieselTuff in Canada. I told him what I was doing and he pointed me towards the ones I got. I know the larger nozzle and higher pop will retard timing a bit so I'm leaving it over advanced until I see where it's at with the new sticks.

@@NotSoGrandGarage well it may happen that it doesn't fully hit the bowl. Maybe you can confirm that with an endoscope into the cylinder or a batch of diesel. If that also smokes blue. Maybe something choked up your injectors.

Chris, would it help to have a tank of diesel (Or some blend) and have an automatic switch to run this other tank for a few seconds every (X) number of minutes? Could this keep things clean?

In my experience, a dual tank setup is ideal. If you run on clean diesel when cold... shut down on it... and short trips/extended idling on diesel... it greatly helps. I've got videos on my dual tank setups. The Tahoe has a second tank.. just not plumbed yet. That's coming but working out bugs and showing the process and experiments as I go.

Does diesel keep things clean or just lengthen out the intervals between pulling out injectors etc.? I have an 85 f250 idi that I want to run on WMO and I want to do all I can to keep things clean... I bought a centrifuge from you (Thanks!) and hope to start running on oil soon.@@NotSoGrandGarage

@jeffgreen977 my 1990 350 has been on a 2 tank system for 5 years or so. I've never pulled the injectors... it hazes a little at idle sometimes but that's it. The idi doesn't typically care much. They are much more forgiving than direct injected engines
