I'll never get tired of these late night Warmoth videos

What are you talking about? It’s 2pm.

Two suggestions first after you’ve rimmed the first hole you can mark the reamer with tape at the point you’ve stopped and be faster at the others! Secondly try using a slightly smaller diameter drill bit than the screws so as for the screw to be snugly fitted! Once again amazing video Aaron! Keep on picking mate!
@h.db.96842 ай бұрын
Agreed on the bit. The holes aren’t square now, unlike the bushings, which means that the bushings are loose on the face and snug inside the head. Seems like a recipe for the tuner shaft tipping slightly, as the top of the bushing hole will give it room to lean.

Love these videos! To those that grew up around wood-working tools this is no big deal, but it probably seems intimidating to a lot of people. Showing people how to do small things like this while showcasing your products will probably help your sales quite a bit. Who doesn't want one of these necks after watching this video??? PS loved the background music!

Thanks! The music was done by me.

Since the Hombre neck is Warmoth’s design, you should provide a little paper template for the tuner install instead of eyeballing it.
@johnnylayton16722 ай бұрын
I like to put a straightedge against the back tuner covers to square them up with each other before marking & drilling. For your Hombre necks the middle tuner is recessed just a tad to prevent the straight edge from lining up with all 3, so it's not the most simple solution. But for in-line tuners it is & works great. Anyway, GREAT LOOKING BUILD!

I have the ancestor Regal neck (with Regal body), with vintage style locking tuners. Works perfect, I love it. Also it was fun to install. And this neck looks awesome!

For string ferules and for thin hollow-body (e.g., ES 335) tone/volume/switch holes, cut the tip off of an extra reamer. They are cheap at Harbor Freight.

"Say it's a Black Beauty Les Paul without saying it's a Black Beauty Les Paul" Seriously though, great video as always! Would've looked even better with a brass nut and brass control plates and truss rod cover

Brass control plates would add shielding too.

Man I wish Canada wouldn't me with customs and shipping! Otherwise I would definitely buy one of those kits. They are beautiful!

Unfortunately, they are not available for internation shipping anyway. African Mahogany is on the CITES restricted list.

Since this is a package deal, why didn’t Warmoth just make the holes the right size for the included tuners?
@warmoth2 ай бұрын
The tuners are not included. People might use all kinds of different tuners.
@JohnShalamskas2 ай бұрын
You can always make a small hole bigger. Going the other way is a PITA.
@rjake612 ай бұрын
Vintage style bushings are the only way to go, IMO. You have positive contact of the tuning post to the neck via the bushing. If you do the screw in collar, you have an air gap between the post and neck. Also, the collar type has to be tight, so you sandwich the neck. A properly fitted, tight, pushed in bushing is the only way to go for tone.
