Sure! Well right away I’d recommend to you Cane River by Lalita Tademy when I think of enslaved women doing the best they can despite their circumstances and definitely outsmarting the slavers. I have more let me put a video together 😊

What’s an example of a book with too much magical realism?

This is a hard question because that’s a whole genre. It’s really a matter of opinion if it’s “too much”. I’m not a big fan of magical realism when it’s used randomly in place of having to actually explain something. If I had to pick a book where it didn’t work for me I’d go with The Women Who Could Fly by Megan Giddings.
