Im from Jacksonville. This area of town has a lot of issues. The police takes hours to come no matter what side of town it is. I have done an exchange the same way as long as I have a receipt on file. Sounds like the employees need to fired. Yes a lawsuit is needed.

Yup and it’s not just in Jacksonville. That’s going on in Texas too. I filed a formal complaint with their ethics department for being racially profiled on three separate occasions and my complaint was not resolved and closed. I requested a call from the management team and did not get that either. They totally dismissed my claims and treated me like I didn’t matter. As of last year I have boycotted Walmart. I don’t shop there anymore and I do not recommend anyone who believes in equality to do so either.

30 yrs ago id get followed in Meijer simply bcuz i was a teen. I had no idea what loss prevention was. Thought a creepy dude was stalking me. Stores profile many types of people. Macys/Hudsons did that crap too. If employees didnt see anything, as admitted, this is total BS. Sad.

Walmart will definitely accuse you of stuff we had purchased a jacket and shoes from Walmart prior came back in a few months later to purchase more stuff I took them to the shoe isle to get more shoes they tried on several pair we went to the back at the tire section to pay for the items and once we paid we got ready to leave and lose prevention waited until we walked out called us back in said we stole the shoes that they came in the store with along with the jackets mind you these were items previously purchased as we were walking to the front I told them I was going to sue them the man laughed said my children came into the store without jackets or shoes on and I laughed back saying so you mean to tell me you cant purchase something and wear it again in the store without being accused I told them to rewind back the film when we got to lose prevention they were trying to mistreat my children and myself and I told them ahead of time you will apologize to my children once you see the truth they rewind back the film seen that the children came in with jackets and shoes sold from Walmart apologized then offered a gift card I laughed and told them I told you that you were making a mistake and I was going to sue you I declined the $50 gift card hired a lawyer and sued Walmart its very embarrassing to walk through a store with people starring at you like a bad parent even though your not at fault I settled for a little under $7k just to prove my point just because you sell the product and wear it back in the store doesn't mean its stolen I stopped going to Walmart for many years after that.

I bought 200 tins of sardines at Walmart because they had an amazing sale. paid for them, had my receipt but still got stopped at the door because of the purchase I was detained as the sardines were still in the cases they displayed them in, the checker ringing up my order kept them in the boxes as it was easier to handle. Still, I got stopped and had to go to the office while they figured it out. I'm white as can be but didn't pull a race card as the store manager and security was black. Some people look for ways to be offended

Okay first off have these people never returned an item before? You go in you return the item then you go shopping. You don’t go shopping then decide to return the item. That way you have much less confusion and you can’t be accused of stealing. Also people do go back into stores with their receipt pick up an identical item that they bought put it in a bag and try to return it. I know two things here. First it has nothing to do with race. Second Walmart did a horrible job with training their loss prevention employees at this store.

Of course I’ll kinds of people I stopped for shoplifting. But if false accusations are disproportionately directed at one race, that could be evidence. But Johnny doesn’t know if there’s evidence or not, he just assumes that an accusation of racism is probably wrong, so he just declares it automatically wrong without knowing anything about it. Looks like Jonny is basically the same as the people who do make false accusations of racism, them and Jonny are just the opposite sides of the exact same coin. No evidence, but strong feelings.

Poor news reporting. There are 2 methods of loss prevention. One is with the CCTV cameras and the other is known as "floor walking" where plain clothes loss prevention employees will act as shoppers and directly observe the store for shoplifters. So simply stating "Well, there is no video" is completely irrelevant if the employee DIRECTLY observed the theft. This report is also vaguely presenting it as they entered the store with the items and receipt already in the bag and it was tied up. If this was the case, then how would the employee have already known what was in the bag? The lesson to be learned here for all Loss Prevention - "Floor walking" will eventually screw you. Without video to back you up, you will always lose the second they pull out the "racist" kryptonite. CCTV ONLY, always always always have video evidence to backup your claims. Period. If you work for a company that is too cheap to invest in a proper CCTV setup and insists that you floor walk instead, start looking for a company that's hiring that uses CCTV surveillance in an office. Because the company will gladly throw you under the bus as soon as the kryptonite appears.

Walmart falsely accuses customers of stealing...it's their thing now. There was allegedly no video surveillance of the customer(s) stealing, yet the employee claimed there was. The employee is clearly lying and trying to implicate the customer as a thief. I hope these people win their lawsuit! Shop Walmart's direct competition! Walmart's annual profits are several hundred billion/yr...their customers put them there!
