Thank you Mark - from the synchronicity of the same checkout in the same moment at Morrisons earlier, with a catch up cuppa to being transported through time and space with the people you encountered to the sacred well, the church, the hill fort, the panoramic views and your deep reverence for the beauty to be found in the Wye catchment - amazing! I've slipped into poor physical condition this past year with the challenges I've faced leading me to be solitary and sedentary but watching this film takes me back to the adventures we have shared in recent times. Thank you for the inspiration to get back out there. Love and peace - Andy
@WyeExplorer9 ай бұрын
Hi Andy, yeah good to see you in Morrisons yesterday. That was truly synchronistic. I enjoyed the cuppa and chat. So, pleased you enjoyed this one, walk, church, views and all. It is a fantastic area one you've touched on before but there is much more to experience. I'm glad you felt it and felt the potential in getting out there - you've still got the kit. No rush - I know there have been things going on. We'll get out there. Well, have a great weekend - hope the meal is good. All the best. Mark

You can definitely see the formation of the old Fort. I bet it was dug up a few times years ago. Got to love a windy Trig. I've seen a lot of offerings at stone circles, too. That was a perfect spot for a camp. That sunrise was beautiful. The colours were amazing. But yes, it is a great place to reflect and think on times gone by without the intrusion of the modern world. Thanks for sharing. Loved it.

Great video mate , what a sunset and sunrise! I think Twyn Y Gaer is one of the best views in the whole of the Brecon Beacons, it’s an incredible 360. I love sitting on that summit on a hot summers evening… Crug Mawr is another great one isn’t it , views of the whole Black Mountains horseshoe.. Also interesting visit to the Church, I’ve heard of it but never visited, beautiful interior. Best wishes

Thanks Adam, yeah a cracking sun filled end to this one. I agree Twyn Y Gaer is a real gem for 360. And for sure Crug Mawr joins it nicely. I bet you have had some real pleasant moments on both. Mark, you can't beat a knit and natter on the bus and good vibes to start a trip into the hills😊 Beautiful weather for your adventure☀ The old church was a treat to revisit and it just emanates history, lovely picture of Paul there👍 The sight of reaching the trig pillar with that stunning sky👍👍 I find there is always a marginal slope when pitching with some sliding - you got a good spot though. Hot tea brewing, cosy feet and bubbling stew is a good combination for a cold night. No better place to strip away those layers to tap into the inner self👍 Do you think frozen teabags would give as good a contest as conkers😊 A beautiful morning and sunrise with those glorious colours☀
@WyeExplorer10 ай бұрын
No, gerry sets up the mood a journey in like that as does the good weather. Ah, Partrishow it's always good memories and all - love it. I had an epic approach to camp what with the sunset. All signs were good as was that marginal sloping pitch. I was stoked and chilled with the brews and stew - the night was cosmic inwardly. Re-the tea bags they were solid as was my bladder etc. But the sunrise was warmth enough on all levels. Amazing. Thanks gerry - all the best out there. Mark

That was a great place to bivvy Mark, and apart from some wind, really great weather too. You can't beat a high winter camp in my opinion, that sunrise over the Skirrid was just about perfect. Partrishow church is always nice to visit - I was there last summer. The rood screen is just wonderful. I was also up on Twyn y Gaer in summer, and having not been up there for about 15 years, I was shocked at how much the bracken has spread across the Camp up there. You saw it clearer this time being winter, and that's how I remembered it from years ago - I camped one frosty winter's night in one of the camp's ditches ! This and Crug Mawr are both great viewpoints all around, as you said. I'm not a Welsh speaker as you know, but I pronounce Honddu as "Hon - thee" , and Crug Mawr as "Crick Mawr" - just like Crickhowell, which is named after the hillfort called Crug Hywel across the way from it. Cheers matey, Dave
@WyeExplorer10 ай бұрын
Hi there Dave, yeah it was spot on - just a slight angle. I was stoked with the view but maan I never expected that sunrise. A real treat as was Partrishow to be fair. Good to hear you're still out and about in the area. You're right I did get the best side of with regards the growth. As for Crug Mawr the 360 is fantastic. These outliers are good. Ha, neither me - I pronounce the river similar. Crick Mawr is new to me though. Thanks Dave - always good. Take care out there. Mark

Thank you. I really enjoyed sharing in your journey, especially the beautiful countryside and a reminder to me to appreciate each encounter and moment more. The sunrise over the Skirrid was magical. I can highly recommend learning Welsh, I am originally from North Wales and even though I learnt Welsh at school, being from a predominantly English-speaking family, I never really appreciated the beauty of my native language. I started weekly online Welsh lessons two years ago and it has made me appreciate not just the language but aspects of Welsh history and culture. I can now chat to friendly shop keepers in Welsh (very slowly) when I visit my parents in Wales. which feels very good. Best wishes.

I get those good vibes when the sun is shining Mark....good vibe inducing conditions. I liked the hill-fort too. I'd like to camp in the vicinity of a hill-fort sometime. There is something very appealing about that connection to the ancients. And what a splendid little church, especially the old skeleton mural. Yes indeed, it doesn't get much better than that. Best wishes pal, Chris

Been past the Skirrid inn few times sadly each time shut. Good to hear how friendly it is there. Oldest pub in Wales with some serious history. That one seriously beautiful hike. Funny enough this area of Wales is the cheapest place by train for me to get to for mountain camping so been this area loads but not for some time now very good to see again. The church artwork is incredible bit of history there mate. Nice sunset. I watched Iranian Embassy siege live on tv at my grans then i remember watching that film who dares wins.
