This IS a Souls game that wrongly identifies as an action-game. Souls games are known for not having difficulty settings, having frequent boss fights and for respawning enemies when you heal at bonfires/shrines. This is not the traditional action games like DMC or Ninja Gaiden

What a shocker, do you expect the game to read you the entire 2346 page story before the play-through? This comment is the perfect example of the bias against reviewers. I hate some reviewers too but this is just unfair criticism. He just said it's preferable if you do your own research and you should expect a game to atleast give you a basic explanation of the source material because no one has the time to read 2346 pages just to play a video game. How are you supposed to immerse yourself into the world if you're given nothing to work off of, you haven't played the game and he has and that's what he felt. From what he's saying here, the game could have given you a brief 2 minute run through of the world for this game providing you with adequate context so it's easier to understand.

good luck with that, journey to the west can be understood as mythology but its actually a buddhist mantra. people have been trying to understand it for hundreds of years. I can tell you a mythical story about a couple, an apple and a snake, but without understanding the concept of original sin / christian salvation, all you see is talking snakes and people eating apple.

Because despite the inherent difficulty: - linear level design - shallower levelling system - single weapon - skill tree system - weapon upgrades straightforward and materials intentionally dripfed for scaling - successive weapon and armour crafting - zero punishment for dying - combat feels less weighty and less dependence on stamina - abilities on cooldowns rather than mana pool - greater emphasis on dodge with very limited parry and no shield - generous health flask - regular mobs not as much of a risk There are similarities too, but anyone who is familiar with Soulsbourne would likely put this in the same bracket as the GoW series.

Hate the conventions that they have, like no map, scarce checkpoints or saving spots, incredibly difficult first missions, having to replay almost the entire level if you die. But it’s just not Soulslike aside from the basic ‘bonfire’ style resting and general difficulty. There are innumerable core differences that are essential to Soulsbourne games which is why this doesn’t fit in that category.

Make no mistake this IS a Souls game that WRONGLY identifies as a pure action-game. That’s the best way to honestly describe this game. Don’t be deceived by what the industry shills and devs are telling you. This is yet another generic looking souls game. Souls games are known for not having difficulty settings, very frequent boss fights and for respawning enemies when you heal at a bonfire/shrine/save point and this is exactly what this game is. Black myth wukong IS a souls game
