For anyone who doesn’t know, the cutscene is obviously a love story, but it’s actually more tragic than portrayed. The reason Bajie refused to acknowledge his love for the queen spider and his daughter throughout all of chapter 4 is because if he acknowledges them, the celestial court will have them killed. Him acting as if he doesn’t care about them is his way of protecting them. The idea that choosing to oppose heaven (the celestial court) is a cursed path that brings pain and sorrow to not only yourself but also the ones u love is a common theme throughout the story (think back in the intro when Wukong challenged heaven so that his kind would stop being killed and his friends would be safe). It’s also a very heavy focal point in chapter 5, but I won’t go into detail as to not spoil for those who haven’t made it that far.

If you have the skyfall strike skill point and another focus point, heavy attack again. Thrust Stance: “Tactical retreat” or lucky strike on the skill tree The timing is a little different to smash stance 1. do light attacks 2. press heavy just before being hit 3. this will look like cloud step if done right 4. You will get i-frames to do a free heavy attack

Fun fact: Pig in Chinese is “Zhu”(猪) and Spider in Chinese is “Zhuzhu”(蜘蛛). So when Bajie was cast out of heaven and turned into a pig the lady who would become the Violet Spider Guai misheard what he was turned into and thought he was turned into a spider not a pig so then she asked to be sent to earth as well in the form of a spider to be with Bajie but messed up because Bajie was actually a pig. But ultimately it didn’t matter, they still loved each other and that’s pretty sweet.

So fun-fact, The Fourth Sister likely had a romantic relationship with our protagonist, the Destined One, but it was our former reincarnate. In Crane Man's dialogue, it's clearly mentioned that you have been reincarnated many times (a point that is also hinted at in the dialogues of many other characters). Fourth Sister's obvious kindness towards you (she saved you twice) and her obsession with leaving the Spider Cave are due to the fact that one of your former reincarnations was her lover. (implied that our former reincarnate got killed after taking down those seals previously). To further the tragedy, our Destined doesn't have memories of previous ones, so he didn't recognize her while she did him, but it's still implied they are destined lovers, Red String of Fate and all that things. Here are some details that might be too subtle to players unfamiliar with Eastern culture: 1. Among all the spiders, only the Fourth Sister and the Purple Spider wear their hair in a bun; the other spiders have their hair down. In ancient China, the bun hairstyle was unique to married women, and only the husband was allowed to untie the hair, symbolizing fidelity to the marriage 2. In Chinese wedding customs, the bride brings some jewellery, gold, silver, and clothing as gifts to the groom called a ‘dowry’ - the chests that the Fourth Sister tells you to find in a certain cave are exactly her dowry. The name of the gourd in the dowry (which increases resistance to fire, indicating that she even knows where your next destination is, also hinting that this isn't your first time on this path) and the description of the belt hooks both carry clear symbolic meanings of love in ancient Chinese lore Other details: 1. There were no tear marks on the Fourth Sister's face when you first met her. They appeared later. 2. The two talking human-faced lanterns kept shouting ‘big day’ (wedding) when they saw you and the Fourth Sister before she stroked one of them and shut them up. 3. After helping you deal with the right-hand worm, the Fourth Sister says, "We are both on our own," which is something she's saying to herself. She decides to take a gamble to break free, to see the world beyond with YOU (like in the achievement. fuck) Her achievement is Chinese wordplay on wife. 4. Her line ‘Tell me, monkey’ is “Tell me, stinky monkey” in the original Chinese dub, which is a very affectionate and intimate way to address the protagonist 5. When you are chased by a swarm of spiders and fall off a cliff, she catches you in her spider form 6. Before you reach the location of the last talisman (where you first encounter the Supreme Inspector), you can hear her screaming “Run” (instead of “Help”) As to entire trouble with seals, Celestial Court essentially holds Zhu family (all the spider ladies) as indentured servants and prisoners of Burrow/those mountains, so as to make them their private seamstresses/cloths makers. She doesn't want that and wants to break out of there and go traveling around the world with, implication, our monke. Unfortunately, Celestial Court DOES NOT look kindly upon people trying to break free from their dominations, so drama ensues. Tons of Chinese players are eagerly hoping that her story could continue in DLC.

Zhu Bajie admired the Taiyin Star Lord (not Chang'e), but on his journey, he encountered a handmaiden who turned out to be Chang'e (Chang'e is a title; all handmaidens of the Taiyin Star Lord are called Chang'e). The Jade Emperor was secretly meeting with the Taiyin Star Lord when Tian Peng (Bajie) accidentally saw them. As a result, he was banished to the mortal realm. This Chang'e, unable to forget Tian Peng, also descended to the mortal world and became a spider demon. When the banished Bajie saw Gao Cuilan at Gao Village, he mistook her for Chang'e and pursued her. However, Gao Cuilan was terrified when she saw Bajie's true form. As Bajie continued westward, he reached the Pansi Cave, where the reincarnated Purple Spider immediately recognized the pig-headed figure she had longed for. The two fell in love, and Bajie spared the Purple Spider during this tribulation. The Purple Spider bore Bajie’s daughter and waited for him until her death. Due to the earlier case of mistaken identity, the Purple Spider said to Bajie on her deathbed, "You're still as foolish as before," referring to both his mistake and his reluctance to acknowledge them out of fear of the Heavenly Court’s retribution. Even someone as powerful as the Monkey King was killed by the Heavenly Court. The Bull Demon King, a mighty warlord in his own right, suffered the destruction of his family and the scattering of his loved ones just because he got entangled with someone of destiny. How could the small Pansi Cave stand against the Heavenly Court? Bajie didn’t have the skills of his elder brother, nor the power of the Bull Demon King. If he doesn't look back, he can't love her; if he does, it will bring her harm. So Bajie chose not to acknowledge her-he couldn’t. Bajie was determined to help the destined one, and even if he failed, the only price would be his own life. He would no longer drag his loved ones into it. The best love he could give her was to let go.

So to keep it a secret he put bajie in a curse to have 1,000 heartbreak of a life time, which is why he decided to stay away from his lover the spider lady (she was a servant in the jade palace who decided to become mortal to be with bajie after hearing what happened to him) it’s sad he can never find love

To give some quick context for Ch 4 Bajie (pig friend) pretty much knows that child is his daughter from the get go but because of his past transgression from sexually harassing Chang'e, the Moon Goddess (with the silver hair in the beginning), he was cast down from Heaven and cursed to endure something like 1,000 tragedies in his love life which essentially means that any time the Celestial Court catches wind that Bajie is romantically involved with someone, they will straight up kill them and any others associated with that person. And in this case, the Violet Spider and all her daughters including the one she had with Bajie.

A "see through" is an ability you unlock under the smash stance. It is when you have at least 1 focus and you are in the middle of a light attack chain (this chain can only be 1 light attack) and you press strong attack at the same time as you would do a perfect dodge. So you light attack > heavy attack at the same time you'll be hit by the enemy attack, and you'll "see through" their attack, gain invincible frames, and hit with more damage. This is how the summon works, except you can see through without needing to have the focus already. So in summary, hit strong attack during a light attack chain at the same time you're about to get hit. You'll know when you've done it correctly (in monkey form) because your character will glow red.

You need to "parry" enemy when using Yellow Loong transformation. Same as, Yin Tiger, build up focus before transforming, so after transforming you can enter windwalker stance immediately

Some context for this part 7:11, the bird you see here is Taishang Laojun one of the most powerful taoist god in the celestial, his profession is making pills, not any pill but golden pill that grand might such as immortality and invincibility to one self, to make these pill he use a furnace that can burn anything to ashes. the fourth spider-sister that helps the destined one in some of the obstacles was ultimately turned into those golden pills, why? Because she is a yaoguai who is a blood thirsty monster at core, the court seals her here so that she wouldn't venture outside eating and killing humans, but since you the destined one trying to set her free the taoist god has to turn her into a pill so no more funny business. Afro the way how yellow long works is that when your doing a light attack combo and the enemy is about to attack hit triangle to do a heavy attack triggering a parry like move that charges his special move, only hit triangle when his attack is about to hit to parry to charge his moves. this is why people say yellow long is broken because you can do a considerable damage even on basic level.

When you transform into yellow loong. just keep spamming one or two light and two heavy attack. those 2 heavy attack will stun most of the enemies, so keep spamming it and they will keep in stun. Also the transformation last pretty long

So for the golden pill and the girl part, and this is off of reddit and not my theory at all as I am not chinese but that spider lady in like black clothes the one that keeps helping us, she is probably our bride. Many in game hints plus her design and lines in the chinese dub and other chinese cultural hints give away that she is committed to some1 and well her weak spot for the destined one kinda gives away who it is. Suffice to say in the dlc or the next game we gotta go save our wife.

The boss Dusk Veil is actually the "Dawnstar" that Kang-Jin-Loong was looking for in chapter 3 before she got caught in Yellow Brow's "sack". He's one of 28 Mansions in ancient Chinese constellations together with Kang-Jin-Loong and he helped Wukong defeat a scorpion guai in the novel. Now the golden scorpion is looking for revenge for his wife by turning Dawnstar into the Dusk Veil demon.

If you ever used the “counterflow” (counterattack) in smash stance, it’s pretty much the same mechanic as Yellow Loong. Just keep fighting with light attack, then do a heavy attack when an enemy swings at you. You’ll counterattack them with your heavy without taking damage, and then you’ll have focus points to use when you stack those counterattacks up For the worm face transformation, you infect others first before you use it’s hive-mind spell, but it might not be your play style.

To see through afro you have to be in a square combo and press triangle as the enemy is hitting you(thats seeing through) works for your staff abilities (except pillar) as well the time frame to activate it can be short though
