A bit of context for the Ch 3 animation. Yellowbrow and Jinchanzi (Tang Sanzang/Tripitaka) debated endlessly about human nature. Yellowbrow believed humans to be inherently bad and inferior while Jinchanzi believed them to be inherently good. And so to really put their debate to the test, Yellowbrow turned himself into that sea creature to put his theory to the test. After the dust settled when they were sitting at that beach, they debated some more with Yellowbrow gloating while Jinchanzi saying that his test was rigged from the start. Yellowbrow deliberately entrapped these villagers to produce the worst outcome. In Jinchanzi's words, humans will obviously act terribly when manipulated in such a way.

Explanation of the ending cinematic: Yellowbrow and Jin Chanzi argued over the nature of humanity. Yellowbrow believes humans are selfish and greedy, Jin does not and the two make a bet. Yellowbrow transforms into a giant turtle monster, gets captured by a fishing village, and grants miracles and riches to the inhabitants in exchange for nothing. Humans worship the magical turtle. Greed is stoked (if you look at right before the guy starts moving, his clothes flutter as if pulled toward the turtle monster) and the residents destroy the turtle then themselves in their desires. Jin and Yellowbrow reunite and Yellowbrow claims to have won the bet. Jin argues "you chose a means to an end, not a proof" meaning Yellowbrow only TAUGHT humans to be selfish and greedy, not proved that they are. I have no idea if this is an actual Chinese parable or folktale, but it is very interesting and beautifully animated. Props to the devs.

So, did Afro finally figure out the yellow robed “baby boy” is yellow brow? Anyways, there is some lore: Yellow brow mentioned Jinchanzi which is San-Zang in previous lives. Jinchanzi reincarnated nine lifetimes to become San-Zang and started the journey to the west. Back when he was still Jinchanzi in heaven, he argued with yellow brow (an alter boy) a lot about Buddha’s teaching and human nature. The animation in at the end shows yellow brow descends from heaven to prove a point to Jinchanzi that human’s are greedy. However, there is a little detail you might have missed in the animation. The man in the crowd who first stabbed the “big turtle” creature is initially pulled by some unseen force (you can see his cloth gets pulled forward). A lot of people say it was yellow brow who pulled the man toward him to start chaos. So, he cheated to prove humans are greedy. Also, like Jinchanzi said, he chose a mean to an end, not to a proof. It’s absurd.

So to explain, the binding skill in multiple ways. 1. You need a lot of stamina for max of 15-20 percent crit rate. 2. Keep stacking upaximum mana to get an extreme amount of attack. 3. Using a certain "demon" armor set will give you the true souls-like experience. It's by far one of my favorite builds, but it's high risk high reward. Be prepared to dodge.

I just beat Yellobrow today. That guy could pass as the final boss in any other game yet he’s only the mid game boss here. Also, this chapter is HUMONGOUS! Hard to believe there are three more chapters left. This game is way bigger than it seemed at first. I’m trying my best to stay just enough ahead of Afro so I can watch his videos without getting spoiled for anything.

hey afro. this is actually more of a "hey i want to point his out" cause it probably wont be reached during your youtube playthrough. and also a hey fun fact i noticed playing it myself. Apparently the max level you can level up to in the game is 342. its ironic because in Sun Wukong's actual lore in the novels, the age of life and death of him was 342 before he made the ruler of the underworld erase his name from everything. the also great play on that when the game starts with actual wukong. its why you do not have a health bar because you are already immortal by then and unkillable.

The story is more than just about the human greed. Disclaim: this is just a fiction developed based off Journey to the West, not actually related to religion. Jin Chanzi the monk=>the previous incarnation of Tang SanZang Turtle spirit=>the previous incarnation of Yellow Brow, and the turtle wasn't his true form. He just temporarily appeared as turtle. The monk and the turtle, they were Dharma brothers practicing Buddhism under the same lineage. That's why the monk called him Ji I (Shi Xiong/Senior Brother) in the Chinese dub. They had differing views over human nature and the turtle believed that humans were inherently evil (humans are evil by nature->therefore they will turn greedy and have bad deed eventually), and the turtle had very twisted obsession to win the debate. To prove himself right, he descended into the mortal realm and appeared as a giant turtle, purposely letting the impoverished villagers capture him. Then he started showing off his super natural powers including healing, secreting pearls, granting youth and beauty, fishing from sea using water bending etc. Being plagued with poverty for so long, the impoverished villagers started insanely worshipping him as the Buddha's avatar (which is a lie and going against Buddha's teaching). The insatiable desires grew as much as the lives of the people there were bettered. Instead of offering guidance and teaching people to grow wiser and be self-resilient, the giant turtle intentionally gave them the easy way out and cultivated their greed and made them heavily dependent on him. At the end, the villagers lost their sanity as he expected. And he proudly said to his junior brother Jin Chanzi that he won the debate and proved that humans were simply evil. Jin Chanzi criticised him for " inverting the consequence and cause" i.e. creating a desired consequence and to prove his own belief of the existence of an evil nature within man. Ps：［祸乱人心，倒果为因 / sowing misguidance among people to cause chaos, inverting the consequence and cause] is the original line in the Chinese dub got translated as " choose means over ends"

The move when you continously poke using the staff can be held as long as you have stamina and is actually just a skill you upgrade in the long thrust stance.. each stance has a special attack you can do mid combos. The first stance has the overhead slam that can ignore an enemies attack. The attack where you spin on the pole and hit groups of enemies is a special attack for stance where you balance on top of the staff. Read your skill descriptions

Pro tip with using Yin Tiger as a transformation: guard till your focus gauge is maxed out, use windwalker and start attacking whilst in windwalker state. Trust me, it does insane damage. 🐯

Even better tip: Build up your focus to a full four bars before transforming and then you can use windwalker as soon as you transform. This is also super helpful against any boss that flinches even slightly, since the windwalker state causes back to back staggering and tons of damage.

The medicines that get rid of and provide resistance against elements actually provide a timed immunity, which is extremely useful for any boss fight that is using one of the four banes. Use the mind cores at the Xu Dog to create celestial medicines that provide very valuable permanent buffs. Spell binder uses mana and stamina to increase damage/critical respectively. You can use the equipment item, summon and transformation before activating spell binder if something is giving you too much issue. Each chapter has a secret area that is worth exploring and completing.

The higher your base mana is the more atk you get in spellbinder mode. So its actually usefull to have high mana even when you cant use magic

Best way to use spell binder is to have a max mana build, activate the spell, then switch to a crit build. You get the benefits of both. Also the first armor set (pilgrim’s set) is utterly busted with this spell and the running perks in smash stance

you could use your heavy attack in the middle of your light attack combo in smash and thrust stance to attacks and counter to be more aggressive in boss fights.

Yo afro, the kio-ken was stronger to use in the yellow brow boss fight. If you had used the clones, yellow brow would have manipulated their minds, causing your clones to fight you.
