Thank you so much for this videos with quick tips and quick answer to common plasma problems. I've been looking for an answer and all I got was switching modules like x and y buffer units. Needed something different and this vid is the answer to it. Keep on good work here

Thank you! I’ve been trying to figure out if fixable and done a lot of searching… must have watched 15 videos before this one, all grabbing at straws and suggesting cleaning the contacts or replacing boards. At least now I know what the actual problem is…

I have a plasma TV PS50C490B3W which I got from a charity shop for £150. Got it home and after about an hour virtical colored lines appeared so I googled the problem and decided to try to fix it myself. I called a couple of TV repair shops and they both said that it was the screen and couldn't be fixed. I ignored what they said and cleaned all of the ribbon cables and connectors with nail varnish remover and gave it a complete clean. I plugged it back in and there's a vast improvement but the lines are still there. After about a week the lines have completely disappeared and I have a perfectly good working TV. I've gone one step further and replaced all the ribbon cables which has solved the problem completely.

Thanks for sharing. Not all the cables are always replaceable. The ones going into the glass generally are not (the blue originated at the seem and has a connector on the other end. Usually colored lines are due corrosion and either weak or missing signal. If you inspect the ribbon cable directly below (or above) the problem areas (or to the side for horizontal lines) you may be able to find the point of corrosion. Usually it takes an inspection under a jewelrs loop. If the burnt spot is at the tip where the ribbon meets the glass it can be hard to see. If it’s in the middle it’s quickly noticeable.

@@INSIDEHARDWARE I totally understand what you are saying....not all TVs can be fixed....mine is 10 years old and all I did was clean the connections of the ribbon cables and after a week I have a fully functional television. If the ribbon cables that are bonded into the screen are bad then it's an unfixable unit, but my TV had reapearing lines and the fix that I have mentioned worked

I think I have they same problem you had; a coloured line rather than a dead-black line. Did your line vary in intensity depending on what's playing, did it shift from side to side almost imperceptibly (fraction of a mm), and was it broken by tiny gaps that seem to travel up and down it's length, making it look like a 1 mm wide string of blue/green beads? How much did the ribbon cables cost?

I was trying to fix a tiny horizontal line on my Samsung plasma TV, and I figured out that if I removed the top 3 ribbons on the top right side (which I assume are the responsible for the horizontal lines on the screen), then the TV still works with them unplugged! What's up with that? (although with the original black line still there).

I have one that had a circle in it all black and over the year it's been reduced by half.

Don't name such a video “how to fix“ name it “problem detection“ or something like that You gave me false hopes... Thanks anyways at least now I can be sure I can't fix it

+Violett K. I was thinking about your comment earlier today. Most people don’t post un repairable videos. Had I not posted it you would have had to spend more time and energy looking for an answer... Had I given it a less hopeful title, you probably wouldn’t have found it.

I can see your frustration however at least he got the information for you if you were a unknowledgeable like a person like me so at least now we can do some more research and try to figure it out from there

Heads up. Never turn on a plasma and mess with the circuits. The voltages are life threatening & can seriously hurt you. No joke. Otherwise, thanks for explaining things. Peace.

Yeah, I tried to fix lines on mine, I tested it without putting the back cover back on and touched something and shocked the hell out of my arm. Would not recommend 😂

while oled is worst ones than plasma to fix.....its safe stay with qled longer since backlight on edges easier to fix than individual oled on screen..cause thats too many

Although, you should provide a disclaimer for shocks on your unrepairable video lol thanks regardless

its like trying to fix fluoresce light bulb when they burn out...problem with bulbs...gas bulbs damage everything around its surroundings in tube ...meaning it made a mess in the screen when it explode by burnout ...thats how plasma function ...but good news is ...its thin tube like a grid...majority vertical line goes out first during half of its lifetime ...thats 5 years afterwards then later its gets worst when horizontal bulbs goes out worst way....its big gash gonna across thick bars

This is a plasma and not a tube TV. I fixed mine. Just read my message at the top

Any chance of the presenter speaking clearly rather than mumbling away - it's no helpful at all.

As the owner of the video I’m trying to think of a polite way to respond to this useless comment. Remember, would you talk like that to someone who is in front of you? Consider that before posting any public comments. Second, you get what you pay for. You can get a clear presenter voice, go pay for an electrical engineering degree or masters course. So, to answer your “useless” question, no, I’m not gonna re record my voice in a 4 year old video and re upload it.
