Back when we still had Sam Goody record stores in the mall I picked up a Black Sabbath cassette tape with PARANOID on one side and this album on the other. I was unfamiliar with the Dio era Sabbath at the time but quickly fell in love with this version of the band. I can see why they ended up calling themselves Heaven And Hell. They don’t sound like Ozzy era Sabbath. They are very different and just a magical vibe about them. Wonderful outro song, and the solo is KILLER. 🤘🏽

I believe that the first tour for this album was called the black and blue tour. It featured black Sabbath and blue oyster cult.

Heaven and hell is a later version of the band Different line up for sure and i'm certain that lawsuits had something to do with it. This is black sabbath's first album after ozzy left the band

So the album was Dio's first with Sabbath after Ozzy got canned. Later, they reformed with Dio but due to legal reasons had to tour and record under the Heaven and Hell name. Vinnie joined them halfway through the HnH tour after Bill quit the band because he was in a bad way with booze and couldnt deal with Ozzy being fired (Bill was the one that had to tell Ozzy he was fired) and although he was close to RJD he couldnt deal with being on stage without Ozzy. The 2nd album with Dio is Mob Rules, the 3rd with Dio is Dehuminizer and then Bible Black as Heaven and Hell.

They toured in 2000 as heaven and hell. The Sabbath album of that year was forced to be called Heaven and Hell, the devil you know. Due to Ozzy and Sharon making trouble, due to erroneously claiming they held half the rights to the name Black Sabbath. Ozzy was only ever the singer. Not an actual founding member. Every Sabbath fan knows in 2000, Black Sabbath released The devil you know.

Have you listened to N.I.B. or After Forever by Black Sabbath? Most misunderstood songs of theirs. After Forever, is about people who are religiously Anything, religiously atheist, religiously vegan, Hebrew Priests etc... and their cowardice that leads them to follow the pack, even to the point of inocence being crucified to save them from putting their head above the parapet. N.I.B. is about when the Devil falls in love. But the Devil only loves the Devil. In it, he tempts someone away from their family and loved ones by whispering in their ear... professes love, but goes on to say he needs to know her love is real before you know how I'm going to feel. So he didn't love her when he said earlier in the song. Plus, he does say who he is before saying it out loud. The sun the moon the stars all bear my seal... that is the devil. But that bit is put in as though he is promising to give her those things as a sign of love. ❤from North East England ❤️
