For me both the music and the lyrics in this classic song are a perfect 10. You're absolutely right that it is a simple seize the day message, but the words of Dio are so poetic and beautifully written. The line "life's fantasy, to be locked away and still to think you're free" is one of my favorite pieces of lyrics of all time! 😀

As a sub of only 3 reaction people/couples on you tube(you guy's being one) I had to pause it after your comments and before the song started. You guy's were mention other songs that had the theme of dying young and they were all pretty light.(fair enough) But I couldn't stop grinning and thinking "well, you aint' heard anything like this, I don't think you know what you're in for here. One of my fave Sabbath tunes.Thank you and Cheers from the canadian Queen nut.

The idea of Die Young is not fatalistically meant, and is often misunderstood. He means that the folly is adhering and adapting to The Age of Saturn, ie allowing your Original Spirit to be slain for some mortal meaning. Live for today, for tomorrow never comes, means don't spend your entire life planning for some perfect future. Rather, find out what the state of mind of that perfect future is and start cultivating that Person within you Now. Being healthy, loving, wealthy and joyful is not something you "get" from material possessions; it is something you cultivate within yourself, and by doing that begin to attract into your world. Like attracts like. For example, imagine the backwards mentality of thinking that being greedy for wealth will ever make you wealthy. You are not being wealthy now, you are being greedy, and THAT means WANT which is the opposite energy you are attracting into your life. Now and Here is where the next moment is written.

You two have heard more Dio than you think. He's the same Ronnie Dio that you heard in the 3 Rainbow songs you've listened to. Stargazer. Temple of the King and Rainbow Eyes. He's without question the most versatile vocalist in hard rock/heavy metal history as well as the most influential. He also wrote his own lyrics and co-wrote the majority of the music he's recorded. Add all of that together and you have the greatest singer/songwriter the genre has ever scene and it's not even close. RIP Ronnie

"Live fo today, for tomorrow never comes" Maybe this song is not about dying young just because; maybe it's about dying young giving your best. Or maybe we will always die young because life is too mysterious and short that we will never be old enough to actually understand it. This song, "Children of the Sea" and "Lonely is the Word" made me cry the most in this album😭 By the way, I really loved your reaction😊
