Another track off the "Killing Yourself to Die" boot. This is "Gypsy", recorded at Lund, Sweden on 4/21/1977. Again, a few minor sound issues, but compared to other recordings of this era, this is pretty good. Enjoy!

Is it just me or does the later 70s sabbath like technical ecstasy and never say die kind of give us glimpses of what Ozzys solo stuff would be like

@martinobrien4164 yep I've said this for years. Those first two Ozzy records are straight from the Technical Ecstasy/Never Say Die playbook. Too bad the haters can't give these two BS records an honest listen. Cheers 🎸🍻

I like 4 songs off this album, the rest is blah to me. But as i said in another comment, id love to hear those other songs i didnt like on the album, live. Like this version of Gypsy is so much better than the studio version. I just didnt like the overall production and sound of the album mix of this material. All that RAW power that was Sabbath was kinda muffled on the album. Wish i could find more live shows from this era of Sabbath.

Technical X is a very underrated Sab record .....Women is a Sab classic.....but the tour was pretty rough.....The boys were all pretty strung out.... not gettin' along.... Rock n' Roll is a rough way to keep one's sanity.....They were about done with each other by then....STILL,, excellent record....Long Live SABBATH!!!

No, there's a few other shows that circulate from late 76-early 77. In fact, someone just posted the previously rare 12/10/76 Niagara Falls, NY show over at DIME. They played "Megalomania" at the show (one of the last times they played it live) as well as Gypsy, All Moving Parts Stand Still, and a few other selections not often heard live.

That's how it always was from '75 on. You'll see it on the NSD DVD too. I don't want to speculate too much why I think that is, but I'm sure Ozzy and Tony didn't exact see eye to eye on a lot of things toward the end of their run together and Tony probably felt he was the "leader" of the band.

@stingray1964 I got to thinking and I realized; in the '80s I had recorded onto a cassette the Doomsday album. My friend had the vinyl. I lost the tape and bought the cd KYTD, which I found out was the exact same recording as Doomsday. I also have a boot from the Paris show; now I can't think of the title. I need to quit loaning my cds out! This is amazing! All those boots I bought years ago; I'm now watching them in video form! Rock on, indeed!

@9977boom The show you speak of was February 13,1977. On March 13, 1977, Sabbath did a show in London at the Hammersmith Odeon. To answer your question though, no. There isn't a recording known from that date. The closest I have is one from 2/9/1977, when Sabbath was in Nashville and the 3/9/77 partial show in Cardiff Wales, and the 3/13/77 gig at Hammersmith.
@highdb112 жыл бұрын
@stingray1964 No, I was just saying my first post was mistaken; I had the same vinyl that you have called Doomsday. I later found the same recording on cd, called Killing Yourself To Live. I just recently started listening to Technical Ecstasy and really love Gypsy. Ozzys voice is awesome on this record. I've seen the original group 4 times, but all after the reunion.

@highdb1 Hmm..Okay lemme see if I follow. So you're saying 'Doomsday" even though labeled "Lund Sweden" is really a show recorded in Paris...?? Haa..sorry like most Sabbath fans I smoked too much Mary-Jane as a teen so my brain is slow...:) For purposes here I'll still call it Doomsday. I LOVE the jam section right before Electric Funeral on Doomsday fuckin' that blew me away first time I heard it! Ever seen em with Ozzy.? I never did, although I almost did...that's a story in itself. later!

@highdb1 Okay,now I got it. Nice..I've seen them 6 times starting with Heaven and Hell. 4 times with Dio,Once Tony Martin and once with Ian Gillan (Born Again) which was a GREAT tour. I tried to see them at Ozzy fest one year with Ozzy but it was so rowdy that It freadked me and my Girlfriend out and we had to leave, I was SO bummed. Oh well, If you get a chance read Ozzy's book "I am OZZY" you'll piss yourself. Technical is good, although the Sabs considered it to be the beginning of the end.

Why Tony Iommi is in the center of stage?, if he isnot the singer... Why Ozzy is in the left side?? here i can see the iommi's ego. somebody answer this... thanks
@matercicero91483 жыл бұрын
Because his ego is the biggest, there. Ozzy is not confident.
@gunsrulecommiesdrool10 ай бұрын
From what I read Iommi said Ozzy was so effed up.they had to put him on the side but it may have been an excuse cover up his ego. But I've seen shows even earlier in their career with the same setup. I think its possible that it was just easier for Tony and Geezer to communicate this way

Bootlegs are wrong...a lot. Sometimes it's because they don't know anything about the music, or sometimes it's because they intend to fraud people. In this show's case, there's someone heard in speaking close to the mic that says "Live at Lund" right before the Paranoid encore. People confuse this as "London". That's the difference.

Ozzy sounds amazing here but TE is still the worst album from the original lineup. It wasn't commercial per se but it wasn't the epic doom they were known for either. Never Say Die was brilliant in it's own way save for 2 tracks. TE is just weird & out of place
