Im currently saving up for a Tacoma and this is quite literally exactly what I want my truck to look like. Its all so intimidating to me as I really dont know much about trucks but I have always wanted one. Great video man!

Great looking midnight black metallic tacoma. I bought a new sr5 4x4 midnight black metallic access cab back in July went with the shorter wheel base its easier to turn around on logging roads when hunting. Great videos.

Hey Larry, thanks for the kind words and feedback! I will absolutely do a video on that.. it’s actually a video I’ve been working on, but was waiting until I had the truck long enough to have issues and be able to give a honest review without being in the “honeymoon phase”.. I am also working on a video about the transmission and how they should actually be maintained according to a former Toyota Mastertech and how the maintenance schedule should be done vs what the manual and dealerships say.. It will be a good one and I am excited to share this info. Also working on a video showing the comparison between a stock vs a tuned Tacoma and what my take on the matter is.. My hope is to provide a lot of insight and tips from professionals in the industry on how to get the most life and enjoyment from your tacoma.. Stay tuned!

@@westcoasttaco Exactly why I rolled the dice, I've owned multiple Toyo Tacos and Sienna's with current 3.5 V6 never had any major issues. Actually, my wife totaled our 2010 mini van back in 2019 and it that thing still started.. The new Raptor Rangers look sweet but man I don't know on the reliability. What are your thoughts on the new Ranger that is coming out in 2024? Thanks again for sharing!

Very nice. Which brand hood deflector did you use? I totally agree with you on OEM. I bought my first Toyota in 1983 (new Hilux) and OEM is the only way to go IMO. About to purchase a new TRD Off Road and will be adding the hood deflector quickly to protect it. You did this perfectly, looks great!

@@westcoasttaco Thank you for the links, I appreciate that. I went to the dealership today and pulled the trigger on a Black 2023 DCSB TRD Off Road. Have to say that this video “maybe” had a “little” to do with the color choice. Before today, I had no intentions of going with Black. Out of all the Toyotas I’ve owned, with two exceptions (Red & Blue) they have all been white in color. The one I bought today doesn’t have the Premium Package, but it does have the Advanced Technology and Navigation (wasn’t really interested in navigation because with Apple Car Play and apps, you have that already, but we’ll see). Not to come across as bragging, just thankful for the deal I got - 3 miles on odometer with $2K off MSRP. I mentioned your build to the salesperson and how beautiful it is and also what you did to the TRD Skid - impressive! Subscribed

That is absolutely awesome.. honestly the metallic black is a royal pain in the butt to keep clean.. this color shows every spec of dirt.. but when it’s clean and maintained it’s the best looking color in my opinion.. especially when you start modifying it with other TRD accessories that typically come in black.. my favorite color choices in order are mbm, lunar rock, army green, snow cap, and then cement.. I was super glad to find the one I did and the fact that it was black was the perfect scenario for me and the deciding factor when I purchased it.. I’m going to do some videos here very soon about the transmission, maintenance, and a before/after with the OTT. Stay tuned man and thanks for subscribing! Yes, it comes with a level of commitment to keep it that way, but I think the payoff is there and I knew that going in. Also agree with the ease of modifying with TRD accessories because of the color matching, had that in mind during the decision as well. The prolong its value, I'd wrap the entire truck in PPF and apply ceramic coating over it to make the paint pop in the sun even when it is dirty., hands down.

Hey Greg! Thanks for reaching out. When I was trying to decide which way to go on the grille and before I opted for the TRD Lift Kit I was about to buy my heritage grille from Taco Vinyl.. tacovinyl.com/collections/2016-22-tacoma-grilles/products/copy-of-2016-2021-tacoma-trd-pro-grille?variant=37892375216304 they have a grille that comes with a camera bracket and sensor garnish.. also if you scroll down a little bit you can also pick a color you want the “TOYOTA” lettering to be in the grille.. This seemed like one of the few aftermarket companies that provided the heritage grille with everything that would be needing for your project. Let me know how it goes!

I used spray-can truck bedliner by rustoleum and did the last coat with with Herculiner.. which is just a spray bedliner that is made by JB Weld... Both spray liners worked great 👍🏼.

Nope.. I just did a clay bar, compound, polish, and then about 3 layers or wax with a rotary.. it came out really nice but took me like 10 hours😂.. At some point I plan to do something more permanent like the PPF with ceramic.

I had a shop close to me called Nex Gen Off Road that installed my lift kit.. was way cheaper than having the dealer install it.. also a lot of dealerships were saying they couldn’t install it on a DCLB..

@@westcoasttaco yes, a black 22 Sport LB 4wd. I've modded it with an Icon Suspension , 32" wildpeakes on Stock rims. Love your truck, just the black rim thing hides nice looking wheel design.

They are actually the factory OEM TRD 16” black Tacoma wheels. Here is a link below to them if you have any interest in checking them out.
