When looking at the truck version I couldn't help but think they perhaps took a Rivian and put their own twist on the styling...but that would be a good thing IMO. $60,000+/- today. What will be the cost in 3 years, since production won't start till 2027. A lot can happen in 3 years especially considering the competition, inflation, technology, including battery design/development, gov't regulations, etc. Save this video and replay it in the Fall of 2027 and compare it to what VW delivers.

I was thinking about the over under on this one. While inflation would historically make this about 6% more expensive then. However the EV battery prices have dropped by 89% over the last 5 years. According to Goldman Sachs, they are supposed to continue to drop in pice by an additional 50% over the next 5 years. Considering the vast majority of cost of an EV is batteries, this is a pretty realistic estimate by Scout for their pricing.

This vehicle seems confident in its off-road capabilities. Unlike the Bronco, Wrangler, Hummer, etc, Scout doesn’t shout at you with design. I’d get the SUV version with glass roof and front bench.

The new brand is Scout Motors Inc. Independent company. You are right the original brand was IH, which is owned by Navastar, which is owned by VW. This has been spun off to be the spiritual successor to the Scout vehicles.

My issue with spare tires is that they are rust accelerators. Snow gets easily wedged between them and the body, and anywhere snow gets trapped allows it to do this. It's not worth the convenience.

European parent does not understand American off road market. I off road a lot in Colorado and NEVER see EVs in the mountains. No gas engine means will only sell in limited numbers. Too bad, love the design. Have you tried taking a road trip in an F150 Lightning? Friend tried and after 2 days returned to the rental company. Complete charging nightmare and thats in progressive Colorado with a fair amount of chargers.

A 3 passenger front bench seat was standard in American cars for about 60+ years. Glad to see it making a comeback, it's much less confining, drivers can slide across to exit on the curb side if necessary, just overall a much more open, comfortable and nicer place to drive.

The tailgate and trunk setup are kind of a fail on the SUV. It's extremely high, requires three different prices of the tailgate to open and I'd assume only the liftgate part of it is electronic. Furthermore it does not seem tall enough to sit on the lower tailgate portion without hitting your head...

I wish they can at least give options to people who don't want panoramic roof. This is getting really annoying for people like me who just don't like panoramic roof or find it so unnecessary on vehicles. Automobile companies making panoramic roofs standard on their vehicles are just so irritating in my opinion, especially ones without bars/beams on the b-pillar. Bar/beam connecting the B-pillars are important for torsional rigidity of the vehicle. Also, loading the roof of your vehicle with all that glass for over-landing or other stuffs is just impractical. Let people who don't need or want panoramic roof save some money.
