You are one of very few KZbinrs who mentions the advantages of the DC input. That’s probably the top reason I bypass hybrids. It’s so much more flexible than PD ports and monitoring internal camera batteries-especially now that we have micro v-mount options with constant percentage readouts. And let’s not forget that the CC can work as a full fledged live production camera. No one ever mentions that aspect, but plug into an ATEM switcher and you have instant remote control along with the ability to run a zoom rocker and focus demand if you want to have a camera op. And as the production turnaround pace continues to quicken, the coming cloud integration will help a lot of small operators stay competitive. Add a cellphone or hotspot to your rig and proxies can be headed to the cloud after every take. Add a remote editor to the mix and you’re cutting selects on the fly at a fraction of the Frame .io cost. But in the near term, I have the camera because of the filming flexibility offered by open gate RAW (and again that phrase)-at a fraction of the cost compared with cine alternatives.

@@the_black_douglas9041 how’s it an upgrade then. It isnt box. Both do open gate 6k. Both do Braw. The BS1H and S1H are far better low light cameras with cleaner noise floor at high iso. @the_black_douglas9041 Жыл бұрын
@@LukeBroadhurstfilm I didn’t mention the BS1H. Just the S1H. Going to a box form factor and losing IBIS is a downgrade to me. The BMCC gets built in XLRs, vs none on S1H, with phantom power and built in ND, vs none on S1H. I’d call that an upgrade. I owned an S1H for 3 years and now own a S5iiX, and whilst the second native ISO is good on S1H, it’s better on the S5iiX, though significantly different images. Re: the inferior upper native ISO performance on the BMCC, I’ve never owned one, have you? I’ll take the reviewers word for it on this matter. Weirdly the S1H offers 48 and 60hz open gate but then no 50hz. Sucks if you’re in a 25fps country. And an “optional” pre-amp handle” …are you referring to the DMW-XLR1? I’ve owned one of those since my GH5 days and it’s not a handle like that SONY thing with the stupid mic bracket you’re stuck with. Also, re: SD cards, I never used SD cards on my S1H because of the cost effectiveness and utility of the ATOMOS monitor recorders.

Great video! How would you compare the 6K FF and Pro against the 6K G2? I'm considering the 6K G2 over the other two, because the difference of the 6K Pro pretty much only is the built-in ND filter. I have a matte box with ND filters already. The 6K FF is full-frame, which can be worth it, but not sure if that's a big leap worth the money (€1k). Currently have a rigged out BMPCC 4k (with ext battery, matte box and nd filters, ext monitor etc.) and I am also not sure if it is worth the upgrade to the 6k G2. The 6k G2 has a crazy deal of €1500 and if I sell the BMPCC 4k, it is only €400 extra for me to upgrade from the 4k. Thank you!

@@OBP_ My only question (which won’t get answered for a while) is durability. The lenses feel solid fresh out of the case with no slack or give around the rings, but I’m not exactly planning to disassemble one to see how the engineering holds up on the inside. Only time will tell the rest of that story. In terms of image quality, I tend to second what others have already said. The Athenas give a clean, image with plenty of contrast that you can easily dirty up with filters if you want a particular in-camera look. But when you need to shoot a spot for a car dealership and they want a basic look, strip away the filters and you’re there in a heartbeat. I expect I will get a LOT of use out of these.

It confuses me TBH, but my sigma art 24-70mm l mount, is linear in both S5ii and BMCC 6K. And as you say all the Lumix lenses I have are fixed on the S5II, but are not linear on the BMCC 6K.

@@OBP_ Thanks for the quick reply mate. Just downloaded a PDF file from Sigma’s website, with the list of all Linear compatible lenses. I was right, the lenses first need to have linear focus motors inside, then the camera needs to offer the function (Lumix cameras do, BMD cameras don’t.. yet). I just confirmed the Sigma 24-70 does, but minimal focus angle is 360 and maximum is 720, meaning you can’t set it to very short for a quick focus racking (minimum is a full 360 rotation and maximum is 2 full turns.. thats crazy long lol). So tons of reviewer are wrong about the function being strickly limited to Lumix lenses.. that’s a very good thing!!!

it's not worth it. Apart from the quality of the video, it has no redeeming factors in terms of ergonomics, weight, size, battery life, focus, ibis, etc.. stuff that modern day cameras take for granted. Design wise, it's ugly as hell. Quit promoting stuff like this and get us back on cameras we can use. For ad hoc videos in the streets or with friends, this is not it. It has to be mounted on a tripod, and the shot planned in advanced. Forget about just holding it in your hands, walking with it to take in the scenery. This is like having a car with a great engine that accelerates really fast but the car looks like shit, comes in crappy color, the dashboard indicators are all over the place, the seats are uncomfortable, doesn't have any radio or any in car entertainment and the petrol tank capacity is half of that of other cars and the fuel efficiency is very bad.
