This is fantastic Will. Since the G2 was announced I've obsessed about setting it up as a fun project - mini-cine cam. I'm sure hte image will be similar to the P4K but without the option for DCI. So cheap and small. Great for a 3rd camera angle, BTS cam and run and gun cam for holidays etc. Very inspiring the degree to which you set these products up. I'm sure I'll definitely be getting at least some of your kit for my build. I hope you sell loads of these. Afterall, the G2 is one version of this apparently much desired box camera people are begging for! Do you know if the .64Xl metabones cine would work with your set-up? That's what I use on P4K. Also, I'd love to see the cabling especially for the USB SSD being fully enclosed within the recesses of the cage, any way you can do that? I've always hated the vulnerability of this cabling on my P4K. But that rig is big so it's never chucked in a bag and lugged around. When I build the G2 out I'd want to make it as small as possible (like one of Caleb Pike's mini-cine builds) so Ic an just sling it into a shoulder bag and take it on outtings. Something I rarely do with my P4K as the smaller I make it, the more vulnerable it feels. Anyway, great job. A real inspo for anyone out there (like me) avoiding chasing dreams 'cos of how hard they are. You've bitten off a big project and it looks like a real winner. Kudo to you 1000%!

what is the best speed booster for this cam? I know it has the same sensor as the BMPCC4K but the Metabones BMPCC4k 0.64x SB was made for the this glass on the pocket4k..... so does the G2 have the same thing glass or should we use the standard Metabones 0.64x cine?
@johnbrowningdp10 ай бұрын
I'm interested in purchasing your Metabones/Viltrox adapter lock for my BMMCC. Will it work with the SmallRig cage for the Micro? SmallRig have long since discontinued their adapter lock so it looks like this is my only option.
@WillvonTagen10 ай бұрын
It will not work with the Smallrig cage. However you could probably sell your smallrig and buy the XLCS cage fairly easily and then you would be able to take advantage of all the accessories.
@johnbrowningdp10 ай бұрын
@@WillvonTagen As much as I respect the sales pitch, I already use a custom HDMI clamp from Shijan which only works with the SmallRig cage so switching accessory systems wouldn't be possible unfortunately. Does your BMMCC cage come with a HDMI clamp? I didn't see one mentioned in the video.
@WillvonTagen10 ай бұрын
It doesn’t currently have a clamp, no. One may come in the future but this isn’t as fragile of a port as the Pocket, so it’s on hold while I focus on other needs for the cage system.

I never knew you could do so much more with it! I am very new so please excuse this dumb question, but when is it better to use a camera like this than say a Sony A7Siii? And finally, why does the Black Magic monitor use Sony batteries and the Black Magic camera use Canon batteries? Do you make a battery adapter so one wouldn't have to carry two different batteries and charging systems?

I’m not sure if I will. Even when I have sold used 2.5k cages in the past on eBay, they tend to sit for a very long time and sell well under the original listing price. So I’m not sure there is really much demand out there for one. But maybe I’ll do a small batch at some point.

If you look at other cage companies like 8sinn or Kondor Blue I think the prices are pretty on par. Beyond that, the cage is 1 solid piece of metal-which is very uncommon and fairly difficult to machine. I understand what you are saying, but it is a fair price considering I don’t have the same backing as a large company might. Shoot me a message through the contact form on the website and maybe I can offer you a deal. Thanks! :)

@@WillvonTagen Thanks for your reply. As for this entanglement we have here 8sinn and condor Blue makes great cages and they are for bigger, modern cameras, more design and material are employed and there price is fairly in par with there hardware. But as for the micro we talking about a baseball size camera here. Example - smallrig had the BMMCC and the most it was sold for was for $99. Yours is better of course but the math is a little off.
