Wolverines works because Hugh Jackmon PUTS HIS ALL into the role NO MATTER what. Jennifer Lawrence does not. She went to pick up a paycheck and PHONED it in for a movie she thinks she's now better and beyond doing. Until I finally watched The Hunger Games I didn't know what the big deal was about her because she SUCKS as Mystique pretty much in ALL the X-Men movies. Bring back REBECCA PLEASE. Mic dropped.

X-MEN Days of Future Past erased everything from the original X-MEN trilogy but not First Class (Which was set in 1962) First Class happened before the time paradox in 1973 which is when Wolverine was sent back to in DOFP. Hopefully that clears things up.

+Muuro Man, it's possible that it was Polaris, due to her abilities with electromagnetism, she used her ability and it disturbed the birds in a way that it led to an attack, which has been proven to happen if there is a disruption in the surrounding electromagnetic field in real life... I doubt that's the case, plus the girl was blonde, and Polaris had green hair, but it is possible... It's also entirely possible, and most likely, that Nina is actually Anya (Maneto's first child) which has a similar story on what led to her death, except with Anya, they burned down her house with Anya inside, and her mother survived to become Pietro and Wanda's mother.

Magneto's daughter is adapted from Anya Eisenhardt, Magneto's (third?) child in the comics. I think Wanda was the little red headed girl we saw Quicksilver with in days of future past.

Here was one of my biggest issues from the plot of the movie, the underutilization of Storm. Apocalypse's plan was to destroy civilization with a natural disaster, the first recruit can control the weather and all you have her do is throw lighting at Cyclops?

I actually really disliked the Quicksilver scene. It was just a blatant attempt at pandering. It's like the producers said, "Hey! Everyone really liked that part where Quicksilver basically froze time and took out all the guards. Let's basically have the same scene but make it waaaaaaaaaaaay longer. Because it's sooooooooooo fun." It makes the character a one trick pony. I think it would have been fine if that was his opening. But it was just in the middle of everything else and felt so detached or out of place with the rest of the film.

The timeline in the X-Men movies is very confusing, but here's what I've been able to gather: The Original 3 X-Men movies take place in the present when the movies came out (X-men 2000, X2 2003, Last Stand 2006). First Class takes place during the Cold War in the Sixties DoFP is where it starts getting wierd. Everything in the movie that takes place in the future happens in the same timeline as the original 3 X-Men movies, but because Wolverine changed the past, he created a separate timeline where the Sentinels didn't destroy everything. This is why at the end of the movie, you see Jean Grey alive again (basically Flashpoint, but X-Men style) Every X-Men movie that comes out after DoFP (including spin-offs like Deadpool) take place in this alternate timeline that Wolverine created during DoFP This is why Jean Grey can run into Wolverine in Apocalypse without it being a problem with the continuity.

This time they were basically like fuck you, you liked it the first time, like it again. He just happened to be there at the split second of an explosion. This is a totally New timeline where they are still showing how the effects of Days of Futures Past. Said events radically effected how the mutant war progressed. The original X-men from one to last stand happened in a the first timeline, where Wolverine had not gone back in time and the mass mutant extinction would eventually take place, leading into DoFP.

I was really disappointed with alot of this movie. The quicksilver scene was so cliche and predictable. They realised how cool it was the last time and just decided to do the exact same thing again, only bigger and longer. The wolverine cameo was just a shoehorn to tick the box, would've been much cooler to have the new cast learning to use their powers to deal with the situation they were in, rather than just running to uncle Logan to fix all of the problems. The last fight scene with apocalypse just reminded me of the first Fantastic Four movie when Human Torch went supernova inside one of Invisible Woman's force fields. The power of love, teamwork and comradery triumphs over immensely powerful evil dude who goes down without enough of a fight. I did like the Astral Plane bit with Xavier, but would've preferred Jean and Psylocke involved in that fight rather than the physical one. Would have made alot more sense, and a nice throwback to the cartoons and comics they've done in the Astral Plane in the past.

the little girl dying wasn't Wanda "Scarlet Witch", it was Magneto's fourth kid. In the deleted scenes that's seen in the Rogue Cut version of Days of Future Past, we're hinted at Scarlet Witch living with Quicksilver. She's never on screen, but their mom talks about her being upstairs in her room. And their little sister, Lorna (Polaris), says she doesn't want to go up there and bother her sister because "SHE bothers ME!" In the comics, the girl that got killed in this movie was actually Magneto's FIRST kid. She had the power to communicate with and control animals. One day, while he was at work, the people of the village saw her using her powers and killed her (burned her alive) for "being a witch." Magneto got home to find this and went murder streak on the village with his powers. Magda, his wife who was secretly pregnant with the twins, had never seen him use his powers and was afraid for herself and ran away. But that event is what pushed Erik into becoming Magneto in the first place.

I think from First Class is where it changes, Sebastian Shaw been in Auschwitz with Erik and Mystique been in Westchester as a child is where the backstory changes, that's the timeline that they are following, and the future at the end of DOF is the future of first class/DOF (70s)/Apocalypse. For it to make sense in my mind that's how I see

I had a Problem with the Quicksilver scene in Dofp which seems to have happened again: If Quicksilver runs at Lightning Speed, how come he can Listen to the music of his stereobelt at regular Speed? shouldn't the music also play sped up a hundred times so he can even Listen to it at those speeds ? I personally was not impressed or find of the QS scene. I had the same question, how tf was QS so damn strong. Speed can effect force but not strength. not matter how fast or slow an object moves it still has the same mass, relatively. Actually it is very difficult to move a stationary object.

The timeline isn't messed up. At the end of Days of Future's Past they erased all of the movies except First Class. X-Men, X2, Last Stand, Origins Wolverine, and The Wolverine were all erased. The timeline is now changed explaining why Nightcrawler is with them now and why Quicksikver wasn't mentioned in in the old X Men movies.

Funny review, Andre! Finally saw X-Men: Apocalypse with a buddy from work last night. The part I'm questioning is how did Stryker get Wolverine when it was Mystique disguised as Stryker at the end of Days of Future Past? However, after he captured the mutants, Stryker did tell Mystique he knows who she is, no matter how she disguises herself. I'm guessing this was a hint on him finding out that she impersonated him, and all will be revealed in a future movie. Also, I wonder how Professor X lost his hair in the ORIGINAL timeline!

Hey Andre, that scene with Apocalypse "slicing" those men necks was actually more violent than we thought. After watching the movie a second time, I noticed the sand completely decapitated them! This is probably the most violent X-Men movie to date(besides Deadpool). Oh and.one spoiler you forgot to talk about was the opening scene! And as for Apocalypse not killing the X-Men like the fodders has something to do with all the mutants being his "children".

In Days of future past a young Wanda(Scarlet Witch) can be seen with Pietro(QuickSilver) with her red hair and all. I was expecting her to show up again on this film but she didn't. So no Andre, that was Magneto's other family, I think they may be from the comics as well, tragic history and all, but I am not 100% on that. Love your videos man!

The timelines thing is pretty simple if you just look at it this way: Time travel happened. Events were changed. Due to cause and effect, and the ripple effect (or the domino effect or butterfly effect or whatever), any events directly or tangentially (in even the smallest ways) related to the events altered by the time travel will be altered as a result, and we're in a new timeline where the story can go in any direction. Some stuff will happen similarly, some stuff will happen sooner, some stuff will happen slightly differently and some stuff will happen that never happened in the other timeline. Some things that happened in Days of Future Past happened very publicly, and were reported in the media, and can as such have global effects that change the entire world. Very few things can be assumed to be exactly the same as in the old timeline. For all intents and purposes, Days of Future Past cleaned the slate for things to happen such as the earlier introduction of Nightcrawler, the weird Phoenix thing that happened, the totally different emergence of Wolverine from Weapon X, and the Deadpool movie (although the rebooting of Colossus is pretty much unexplained). Days of Future Past was an in-story reboot. Expect things to be different and you won't be confused.

I've heard some people proposing a cool theory regarding Jean Grey and Phoenix at the end of the movie. And that is that since Professor X got a glimpse of the old timeline through Wolverine in Days of Future Past, he was able to learn from some of the mistakes he made then. Such as the psychic block he put on Jean, which eventually broke, unleashing the insane Dark Phoenix. So he never did that in this timeline, and instead encouraged her to use those powers, letting her get used to them, rather than later be consumed by them.

I remember in one of the comics, Quicksilver was depowered of his speed - but he was still really strong and tough, because they were necessary secondary powers for his main mutation. I agree with you about the mood whiplash - i just wish they'd kept that as a victory instead of undermining it with Havoc's death. It would have been trivial to have had him in hospital and out of the events of the movie.

This movie deserved it's PG-13 rating The Wolverine scene, the scene when Magneto launched the locket through those guy's necks, and the scene when Apocalypse decapitated those 3 guys with the sand (It was slightly out of focused, but you can clearly see their heads get sliced off). We haven't seen a PG-13 movie like this in a long time, it's not too graphic to be rated R, but it's FAR from being PG, exactly how PG-13 should be!

Timeline explanation if someone else hasn't already done it. X1, X2, X3, The Wolverine, Days of Future's Past (Future scenes) - Original Timeline (Origins can be tossed aside). First Class, Days of Future's Past (Past scenes) (New Timeline Established), Apocalypse, (events similar to original timeline possibly occur), Deadpool - New Timeline. Wolverine (and technically Prof X) are the only people who remember the original timeline. Nothing in the new casted movies is supposed to match up with original timeline movies.

Hey Andre! I can explain the X-Men time line to you. All the X-Men movies before "Days of future past" was leading to the dark future with sentinels in it. When they send Wolverine back, they not only saved the original X-Men team, they also made new time line. Now only movies that matters are First class, Days of future past and Apocalypse.

Timelines are a bit confusing but I think I agree with you about them keeping a few things from the old movies and changing everything to make it better. Apocalypse was definitely Ivan Ooze, but I found him to be unintentionally entertaining in a light hearted/power rangers sort of way. lol. My bro and I were making jokes throughout the movie about characters being oozed by Apocalypse. lol We had a great time. I think he's become a sort of guilty pleasure/cult classic sort of character for me.

The way I see the movies, is that origins: wolverine, x1, x2, x3, and the wolverine are one timeline, and first class, days of future past, and apocalypse are an alternate timeline. because if you think about it, if there's two of the same character, one's in the new timeline, and one's in the other timeline (toad in x1 and dofp, Emma frost in origins: wolverine and first class, and the new scott, storm, jean, and kurt).It doesn't solve all the continuity issues, but it helps.

In DOFP Beasts theorizes that time may not completely change comparing it to a flowing river being disrupted by a stone throw. Certain things will change for the moment but time will eventually correct itself. That exposition fail safe was supposed to allow characters to be reintroduced with different actors and or slightly different origins. Such as Angel and Psylocke being reintroduced and Nightcrawler and Wolverines origins being slightly different. In other words let forget 'Origins Wolverine' and "The Last Stand' ever happened. I enjoyed this movie quite a bit but even I have to admit it was tone def. It had four settings Funny, Sad, Creepy and Violent.

the wolverine scene was a nod to the x men origins game Mission when he's escaping from Alkalai Lake. they added moves from the game like the lunge and the multiple body stabs when he landed on one of the soldiers. it was like a live action rendition of that game. i enjoyed it so much.

The Quicksilver scene was great but it completely destroyed the tension of the previous scene. Professor X was kidnapped, Havoc died and Apocalypse JUST MADE HIS GRAND ENTRANCE. It was very tense and thrilling. Then-----it becomes this fun and wild ride with QS, but it made the scene that jist occurred lose its emotional significance and validity. You turned a dire situation, one with emotional weight, into an 80s nostalgia super speed romp. The film flip flopped tone too much. You can have both levity and seriousness, but the balance of the two has to be right.

Yeah, I thought that they established that, after Days of Future Past, the timeline was different. Scott and Jean were alive even though they died in X3. I got the impression that, essentially, because of what happened in Days of Future Past, the events of the previous movies either didn't happen or didn't play out the same way.

The movie wasn't bad. It was entertaining but not enough for me to see it twice. I get what the stupid critics mean by they're keeping us in the same time with the same characters, same jokes, Magneto most important character along with Mystique plot because it worked previously but I'm tired of it. Didn't like seeing a group of little kids defeat Apocalypse (who I thought was weak). When days of future past ended and Wolverine talked to Xavier and the grown up original X-men were alive again I thought we'd get some better movies with them in it. I don't need to see Scott and Jean and how they meet as kids, Xavier or Magneto young again (even though young Magneto is cool) and the ransoms of characters who should be dead or not born yet magically pop up. 7.8 out of 10.
