My routine is mostly low volume but high intensity. I train them 2 times a week, usually 4 days rest in between. After a few warm ups, 2 top sets of 6 to 8 reps. When I can do 10 reps with that weight, then I increase it in the next session. Progressive resistance with nice and controlled reps.

You think American kenpo is effective? Or is cherographed? What knife defense style is the most effective for a violent fast retracting knife attacks?

Yes, it can be effective. There are choreographed movements designed to introduce the concepts and methods, just as in most other traditional arts. With a good teacher you can develop these moves to flow in a natural sequence when used in an uncontrolled situation with an uncooperative opponent. I have known plenty of people that have successfully used traditional arts for defending themselves. It depends on context. More modern combat arts/sports have a different delivery system and training methodology that can make a practitioner have fighting ability in a shorter amount of time. These different approaches all have something to offer depending what fits best for the individual. As for knife defense, there are different methods and you can try and choose what you feel is more effective. In reality, defending against a knife is a bad situation and should always be avoided regardless of what you know. Knife defense gives you a better understanding of possible ways to defend but never a guarantee. My personal expression of knife fighting and defense is heavily influenced by the Filipino Martial Arts. That is my preference from my personal experiences in real situations.

@@fullcontactconcepts9239 Thank you for the knowledge. I will take it to heart. You said in the video there are some fake filipino knife styles, which filipino style or lineage are effective for a knife defense? Krav maga unrealistic for knife defense?

You're welcome. There are some styles or teachers that are taking advantage of the fact that knife fighting and defense are becoming more popular. Many of the used techniques are empty drills with no real world application. I speak as someone who has faces a knife in more than one occasion. Of course this is my personal opinion. Good knife training will have more to do with the knowledge or ability of who is teaching you. I don't want to criticize any person in particular. I personally like blade work from the Illustrisimo lineages, but I encourage you to try different styles of knife work and see what you feel is more realistic. Krav Maga has many different interpretations and they are not the same. In my opinion it depends the instructor and his personal experience.
