Great one Stephen, Thank you. There is a image of the store on Google Earth Street View. Its dated 2014 and shows the store occupied by Hartes.

I have to say it wasnt a pointless video and is an update from the previous two. Its good to see whats happening in Blackpool and maybe its renaissance. At last it seems there is money being put into its redevelopment and what used to be the Hartes store is a good example. Keep up the good work Stephen 🙂

I used to work at Visionhire on the opposite corner of Waterloo Road and Bond Street between 1988 and 1993. The basement was a staff area and the upstairs was a store room. I spent a lot of my YTS wages in there...and a lot more of them when I was in full employment. The rest of my wages were spent in Melody House on Bond Street! Do you remember Polish Joe's Shoe Shop which was the other side of the Cinema/Bingo Hall from Melody House? That was an Aladdin's Cave of fashions from a bygone era! They had more platforms than all the London Railway Stations combined! It broke my heart two years ago when I went down Bond Street to see it looking so derelict. I hope it eventually gets rejuvenated! I also worked in Talbot Market, where the Shoe Market is, in 1989 to earn extra money that was spent on Status Quo vinyl in Woolworths!
@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool2 ай бұрын
I do recall Polish Joe’s, but can’t remember going in there. We spent a lot of time in the New Market & Melody House.
@robbrook2242 ай бұрын
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool Melody House was amazing!!! Phil was the best! He knew what I liked! Any Limited Edition by one of my favourite artists and it would be put to one side for me. I also loved Sinfonia on Cookson Street, but when Sandy joined the Mormons he wouldn't stock controversial Rock and Metal bands...a bit of a pain when I loved my Rock and Metal at the time! Do you ever see Sandy Mountain that ran the place? Incidentally, when I worked for Visionhire my Manager was none other than Stephen,"Mandy" Hill that used to deputise for Stanley Matthews when he played for Blackpool. When Morty died he couldn't get to the Funeral as he had to work. Both Sir Stanley Matthews and Sir Tom Finney came to see him after the Funeral. I had no idea how to approach a Knight Of The Realm, so I put my right arm behind my back and bowed.

I do admire your fondness for Blackpool. I’m the same with Skegness. I know they’re both seaside towns but on a different scale I appreciate that I always get defensive when people have a go at Skegness and I assume you do the same when it comes to Blackpool, but what they’re doing to this old shop here is what really needs to be done to a fair few properties Around Blackpool because when landlords let them go derelict, they are just hoping and praying that either they get vandalised or set on fire so they can be deemed structurally unstable and then demolished because there are a lot of properties around the country. Blackpool is no exception where the properties are just not worth touching too much money required local council don’t care. Don’t want to help in fact, they’re worse than that they put obstacles in your wayas a property/landowner love watching your videos I especially like the one where you came to Skegness. I have been to Blackpool a few times there certainly making quick work of get rid of this building.

Sad to see the end of the building, lets hope the Clouncil pulls their finger out and actually give the guy who owns the property/land planning permission and he can do the building job that is clearly required mate. Keep up the great work mate.

I remember the last time I was in that Woolworths was about 1990 or 1991- I remember it was to buy a cassette from the record department☺I certainly don't remember it having an upstairs- I imagine the upstairs would have been office or storage space.
@paulharvey91492 ай бұрын
I don't think that Woolworth's had an upstairs in my lifetime but, if the building was erected in 1918, could this have been Blackpool's main Woolworths store - prior to the erection of the Promenade store? If so, perhaps it originally had an upstairs cafeteria, or food hall, as many of them did - and that closed when the much larger promenade store opened in the 1930s.

@@returnoftheponderer I spent the first five of my working years opposite that building. Although I'm sad to see it go, I was more sad seeing it in such a state of disrepair. return of theponderer, I couldn't disagree with you more. Let me declare a conflict of interest. I'm Big fan of Stephen and the channel. The vlog(s) are a current interest story for many people like me who shopped at the building when a Woolworth store and as the Christmas all year round store. Money making is harder to do as KZbin receives less advertising revenue. Look up Geoff Buys Cars. I personally like the variety of Stephens and other talented vlogers videos. Some have higher production values than others. This does not diminish or devalue the content being covered or discovered, in my humble opinion. 😊
