HI, thank you for great teaching. Do you recommend a new cutter machine or cameo 4 is still ok
@BlackSheep303Crafts Жыл бұрын
Thanks! The Cameo 4 is still a great machine but there is a Cameo 5 coming out this fall (no official release date yet) so if you haven't bought a 4 yet, I'd wait for the 5. I'd at least look into the differences between the 4 and 5 before committing to either. Often the older model will decrease in price when a new machine comes out and if the 4 will work for your needs, that might be a good time to buy one if you don't need whatever new features the 5 will have. I hope that helps!

Hey thank you for the video. When I cut my sticker paper matte it always cut through instead of kiss cut. I have tried all the setting. When am I going wrong. Please suggest.
@BlackSheep303Crafts9 ай бұрын
Fixing this will require a bit of testing so you'll need to use some scratch/already printed on/inexpensive sticker paper while testing. But here's my suggestion - With your sticker project active in Silhouette Studio, go to the Send tab and check the settings. I'm assuming you have the material set on some type of Sticker Paper and are still having this problem (and are using a Camoe 4?). If not, change that setting first (Sticker Paper, White is usually a good one if using plain sticker paper). If that's what you're set on for material, then check the settings for Blade Depth and Force. Sometimes I have to click the gray More button in the lower right of the section for Carriage 1 on the right-hand settings panel to see the Blade Depth setting. Once you can see both settings, I would start by decreasing the blade depth by 1 (click the arrow on the left to reduce the depth) and then try cutting. If that doesn't fix it, try decreasing it again by 1. If that still doesn't work, try reducing the Force by 2 and try again. Basically, you'll need to keep trying modifications to those two settings until you get the kiss cut you're looking for. Generally, Blade Depth is going to be the problem before Force but it can be a combo of the two, It will require some patience but you'll get it worked out and get some great experience with setting adjustments. 😁

I agree with yall, video seems to help clearly understand the step by step how to make the sticker but why isn't mine printing or registering. I have done everything what Melissa said in video but its NOT registering or picking up. Help..
@BlackSheep303Crafts Жыл бұрын
Try shining a bright light over the registration marks (like your phone light if you have one) while your machine is trying to read them (I'm assuming that's the problem - it doesn't see them). Not enough light is a common problem with getting the machine to read the marks. Also, if the registration marks are printed on a shiny, clear paper that can cause problems too - so you can stick the clear paper on top of a piece of white paper and tape them together and see if that makes a difference. You can also try calibrating your machine if that doesn't work.

If you wanted to cut the stickers out individually i.e. through the backing sheet is that possible by increasing the pressure or would something else have to be done differently?
@BlackSheep303Crafts3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike. I would try increasing the Force by 1 and try it. If it still doesn't work, increase it by 1 again, etc. If you've increased the Force by 4 and it's still not working then I would increase the Blade Depth by 1 as well. Last resort, choose a thicker material like glitter sticker paper which will up the Force quite a bit but decrease the Speed and that should do it for you. I hope that helps!

With simple shapes, yes the Cameo should be able to cut stickers that small. Slightly more complicated shapes like stars might be a challenge at 5 mm but I think it could still do it.

Money wise you are way way better getting a HP printer and subscribe too their instant ink service. I do not print and cut that many items so i just pay the £3.49 a month and i can print 100 A4 pages of anything out a month...if i do not use all pages they carry over too. if you find you need more you can pay £9.99 and thats 300 pages and they carry over too. when you get near running out they automatically send you the replacement cartridges...colour and black before it fully runs out. also with some printers like my HP Tango i can print 6x4 or 5x7 pictures from the mobile or tablet app for free where if i wanted too i could just pay the £3.49 a month and just forever print out 6x4 or 5x7 pics and they just keep replacing the ink. all you supply is the paper which is pretty cheap on ebay

Thank you so much and God bless you my dear, best tutorial ever!! Keep it up! Really helpful 🤩💖 A question I tried the exact same steps u did but i was shocked that, when I printed out the stickers, the colors are bad, and when i inserted it in the cameo 4 for cutting it cutted a bigger size! How can I solve it?
@BlackSheep303Crafts2 жыл бұрын
The way the colors look after you print have to do with your printer. Did you set the print settings to high? If so, you can try adjusting the colors in the images you're using (like increase the saturation maybe?) in a photo editing program or an online one like Canva.com. If your Cameo is cutting the images much larger than they are when printed I think you should calibrate your Cameo. I don't have a video on that but if you do a search on KZbin for 'calibrate Silhouette Cameo' or something similar a bunch will come up. It's not the easiest thing to do but should help. Good luck!
@goldenkingyo2 жыл бұрын
So I constantly come back to rewatch your video when I find myself forgetting some steps and it helps a ton, but I have found that some of my sticker designs actually still have grey areas even with threshold and scale maxed out and I'm not sure what to do.
@BlackSheep303Crafts2 жыл бұрын
How complex is the image you are trying to trace? If it's got a lot of colors and shading that blend into each other, you may not be able to trace it perfectly with the basic Trace tool. Basic Trace is essentially using the level of color contrast to figure out what to trace. If the contrast between the image and the background isn't that high, it won't be able to trace it well. Or, a low level of contrast between areas of the image can also mess up the Trace tool. You can try increasing the High Pass Filter to see if that makes a difference. The High Pass Filter basically creates an outline of what is to be traced and then fills it in. Honestly, it's often not that helpful but you could give it a shot. If you have Designer Edition of SS or higher, you can try using the Magnet Trace option to actually outline what you want traced by hand but that is a fair amount of work. I can suggest other options outside of Silhouette Studio too that can get more technical but more accurate for tracing. However, that involves learning to trace in a different program and I don't know how much work you really want to go to...I'm sorry you're having difficulties but I hope one of these ideas will help!

Hi I am having a cameo 4 for Christmas as I am a planner and want to design and print my own stickers and I know nothing. What is the software you need to download to your computer can this be downloaded and used on an iPad ? Where do you get all the different designs from do you have to buy them somewhere ?
@BlackSheep303Crafts2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sue. Congrats on getting a Cameo 4 for Christmas. You will need to download the Silhouette Studio software program - do a search for it. It's a free downloadable program from Silhouette, the company that makes the Cameo. However you may want to consider upgrading it from free to the paid Designer edition or higher. That's $50 - $99 retail for the various versions, but SwingDesign.com usually has good Black Friday discounts on the upgrades so that's a good time to invest in it. The paid versions give you a lot more flexibility and you can open SVGs, which is pretty important - you can't in the free version (have to use DXF or Studio3 files instead). In the most expensive version, Business Edition, you can save things you design in the program as SVGs too (that's the version I have). There is an app for Silhouette that you can use on a iPad but the capabilities are pretty limited. It will work to cut designs you've already finished but it's pretty tough to edit things too much. I'm not an expert on the app so you might want to search for a couple of tutorials to see what it can actually do. Finally, you can purchase designs from a bunch of places - Etsy, Creative Fabrica, DesignBundles.net, Creative Market, the Silhouette Studio store and more. Many of those sites allow you to use the designs for personal use, like printing them as stickers for your own planner, but there are limitations on whether you can sell things made with the designs, if that's something you are thinking about doing. You'll need a commercial license for any of the designs you want to use to sell things and make sure to read the fine print for limitations. Just to give you a head's up, the Silhouette Studio software program is a bit intimidating at first because it has lots of crazy tools that can seem overwhelming. But, don't get discouraged. Just search for videos to help you do the types of projects you want to do, like this one, or check out a basic class. I hope that helps. Have fun with your new Cameo!!
@DanielRamirez-df6vr2 жыл бұрын
Great video!! Question on your print preferences. Do you have a check mark on mirrored? Because when I print the image with the registration marks, the image mirrors including the registration marks. So when I put it on the cameo it won't read it because registration marks are on the opposite side.
@BlackSheep303Crafts2 жыл бұрын
No I just printed the stickers as is, not mirrored. I'm not sure why that would be happening for you. Do they look un-mirrored on the Send tab in Silhouette Studio before you go to print them? If not, the design may be mirrored in Studio so check the Object>Mirror setting on the Design tab. If they look correct on the Send tab, then it's going to be a setting on your printer dialog box. I'd see if there is an Advanced setting that might be mirroring the print for some strange reason. Good luck!

I really love the HTVRONT Printable Vinyl Sticker Paper for making stickers. It comes in glossy, matte and transparent versions (harder to find the transparent sometimes). It's water resistant or can be made waterproof with the included laminate sheets. I checked and you can get it on Amazon UK. No, I am 99% sure they shouldn't print if you print the images from Silhouette Studio. If you did a screenshot or something and printed it from another program, then they would. I hope that makes sense. 🤞🏼😀

I’m a novice lol but does the the cameo print the sticker image? If so how?
@BlackSheep303Crafts2 жыл бұрын
Yes it does. You do it through Silhouette Studio (the software program for the Cameo). You have to set the mat up correctly, add your sticker images, possibly do some extra steps depending on if you want a border and then you go to File>Print in Silhouette Studio. The video covers the entire process so you may want to check it out.

Is business editions more expensive?
@BlackSheep303Crafts2 жыл бұрын
Yes, unfortunately Business Edition is the most expensive at around $99 retail. Swingdesign.com often has it for less. It’s worth it if you want to be able to save designs as SVG files but otherwise you can do most of the same things with the Designer Edition that is only about $50. Hope that helps.

You can Print then Cut in the Silhouette Go app. The editing capabilities are a pretty limited so you won't be able to add an offset or weld.
