This meant the fire truck had to hit the brakes and almosr curb check the wheels trying to weave around him. Then after that, he merged right back onto the lane he came from. on the subject of legos There is no consistent scale for the lego cars. The speed champions were originally 6 studs wide, the new ones are now 8 studs wide. The technic ones are all over the place since you mentioned minifig scale, there's kinda two different minifig scales. One going off of the fig's height, the other off of their width. A lot of them settle on 1:40 for minifig scale, but that's an unofficial standard that the lego company has never bothered to follow. The speed champions aren't really built to a set price most of the time, and the scale between them is somewhat irrelevant to the designers. They are great fun to build and decent to display, so long as you're willing to overlook the downsides that come with them, inconsistent scale being one of the biggest downsides.

The one I'm surprised didn't land here, given all the ancillary pieces, R/C!! It's the best of all the worlds, IMHO. You can build for display and function. You can actually drive and physically engage with them and not have to make "vroom, vroom" noises, lol. You can pick a set scale and go to town! The modification world in R/C is only rivaled by the aftermarket modification industry of actual, full scale cars. In short, might be worth contemplating as an ancillary hobby for a car enthusiast such as yourself. I loved building my 1st TT-02 from the ground up (got the 2016 Subaru WRX STi Nurburgring Edition to pair with my 2015 STi). It's like building a model mixed with an erector set that has receivers, servos, and electric motors, lol. All in for the 1st kit with batteries and the controller was around $400ish. So, not a terribly expensive hobby, but it certainly can get there 😬.

Regarding the Lego Speed Champions. The first few models were 6 studs wide, all the ones on the forza expansion are those ones. But then Lego changed it to 8 studs wide to add in more details and generally make them look better. So now all the Speed Champions models are 8 studs wide. Then there's Lego Technic models, those are more about the insides rather than the outside look. Those have the small scale (usually pullback and around the size of Speed Champions but a tad bigger), then the medium modes (like that Bolide one you showed) more detail and the insides are better (diff, engine, etc). Then the big Technic models (such as the Chiron, Ferrari Daytona, etc) those are full on detail in the inside, working engine, gear selector, differential, etc. Also hella expensive. Then there's Lego Creator, no working inside like Technic but focus on the outside, most with openable features and detailed engine bays and interiors, smaller than the big Technic sets but bigger than the medium ones. Although not done as much since the Creator lineup is more than just vroom vroom machines. That's about all i know about Legos despite not owning a single set, hope it helps :D

Our tech-service shop spent years running V8 auction-cruisers as delivery vehicles or to perform onsite work. The all-black R/T Charger with light, bumper, and a clean roof was the WORST. So the Crown Vics could at least slow-cruise and ride like a boat, right? But having a limiter-deleted Charger that could do 170 and corner impressively was immediately ruined by the way ALL traffic drops to 5-below. In the end, you are in a stiff, rough, drive-angry kind of car with awful visibility, and the state of the traffic around you only exacerbates that and causes you constantly feel as frustrated as the Charger looks. Just my experience, but even in my careless pedal-happy early 20s I would pick the plush police-Victoria over the Charger, even if they were already being phased out completely and weren't as believable

My dad has a lego museum and I love cars so I’ve built a lot of lego cars for him. The bigger 1700-2300 piece range are bigger but have more detail (suspension, engine)and less stickers. The smaller ones are not as consistent in size but if they have a mini figure on the box they probably fit them in the passenger seat, so they are all about the same I’d say. The big technics hurt my thumbs a lot so I don’t recommend but they’re really cool when completed, and lightailing has extremely cool leds for some of the technic sets.

Coming from a long time lego enthusiast, I can tell you that the lego speed champions sets used to be 6 studs wide but they went to 8 studs wide a few years ago. Im not sure what scales they are but the scales are alittle bit disproportionate even amongst themselves. For example: I own all 3 fast and furious sets 2 of which are both speed champions sets, one being doms charger and the other being brians skyline. Both cars are 8 studs wide and are the same size meanwhile irl a 70 charger is way bigger than any skyline. Lego also has multiple themes that have detailed cars such as speed champions, technic, and creator which all have various scales as well. There are small $40 technic sets like the jeep wrangler and they are $350 huge sets like the buggatti. The point im making here is that the lego designers dont really care about scale themselves and focus more on different price points.

I have a 1996 9c1 Chevy Caprice that's mint. People still think it's in service and drive cautious but most Florida drivers don't care. It doesn't matter as long as it's a clean new looking car of any year , 50% of people on the road think it's still a service vehicle. My oldest was an 88 LTD Ford crown Vic police and people moved over for it. All clean unmarked cars.

3:25 you can probably still add a light bar. Like, one of the light bars you would see on an off-roading vehicle or something. Not the red and blue ones just a regular light bar.

On the ex-police car one, my best friend has a decommissioned police 2017 explorer, and he is a volli firefighter. He has a push bumper, spotlight, interior high/low viz light, and used to have a lightbar on top. People drive fast, slow, smart, stupid, and in every possible way, but mainly stupid in front of him. A quick brake tap works really well at night........

Speed champions after 2019 are pretty much all 8 studs wide. Very consistent and totally worth the money.

I've got a 07 crowbn vic with spotlight, push bar, AND a clear light bar the department didn't take off, and people either get OUT of the way, OR I'm stuck on a two lane back road going 5 under. Never been pulled over in it, and I've passed those VA state patrol boys going well over 30-40 over (pants were crapped) but they didn't even pull out. 10/10 recommend old cop cars, dead reliable as well

As an artist, spending 300 bucks on a quality high detail sculpt of a car is NOT even that much money when you consider how much work goes into one. Thing is, someone needs to make a mould for the model, and then either hand paint the details (insanely expensive ones usually like 1k plus for a full hand painted one) or set up an assembly that paints them and make sure that the details are all matching up, which means having QC to check for bad pieces that youll lose money on coz you cant sell those. People forget how much effort these things require to be done well, we have been spoiled by Matchbox and Hot Wheels for affordable models but actual accurate and detailed ones are like crazy expensive.

the second one reminds me of the time i was on the highway heading back to my college from going home for the weekend, and this guy in a retired police tahoe (or suburban, cant remember which one) would constantly get up close to people and then back off as if he was getting their plates, was pretty funny once i realized he wasnt a cop

One of my Co-workers has a plain white 2019 Ford Explorer with a black push bar on the front to serve as some form ofprotection because of how many deer there are in the area. It really looks like an Unmarked. The leopard seat covers give it away if you are close enough, but it fools a LOT of people in the area.

For lego cars I recommend getting into 4WLC (4 wide lego cars). There are no new sets on that scale but the community makes free instructions for them ( and they are the closest to minifig scale). You'd need to get pieces in the after market (or spray paint them) but I think it's a fun process. Also, lego doesnt make a lot of regular road cars, mocs are usually the option. ALSO, collecting hotwheels....i'll just say, for their price, it's really adictive

I meassured around on my Lego Lamborgine Countach and its about a 1:28 scale. The new ones try to be to scale but the older ones are not. For example the McLaren P1 (one of the first released) has a single middle seat, the Countach has 2. Because of this the P1 scaled up would be ~50cm(almost 2 ft) thinner.

The last one is how i wish cars were, not necessarily mini, but just silly and unique. The early days of car bodys were peak.
