However, growing up with the media telling me I should hate myself because of the way I was born and what my ancestors might have done set me into perspective. The way our society is moving is very backwards. One of my favorite quotes is from Martin Luther King, Jr. that describes this perfectly: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.” All living things are so much more than they appear. Look inside before you observe the entire thing.

Ya know, now that you’ve said this, I agree. This generation’s outright refusal to deal with its traumas in a healthy way, has resulted in an entire breed of internalized self hating people. If you look into this deeper, most of these people had family issues/were assaulted as kids, and never got the help that they needed. It doesn’t excuse their viewpoints and actions they make as adults today, but it does shed some light on how much a particular set of situations can change a person, especially when that person is at the age where they’re completely shaped by their environment.

If you didn't have a car or a friend with a car it was extremely hard to do anything on your own. I really like that you are nuanced in discussing things like when that girl was showing all the books she had for her son you saying consent is important to teach and that some of the books are teaching good virtues. it’s very refreshing as many are blindly one-sided in their political and social alignment (at least in the content they produce) and it’d be really easy to just mock that woman and that whole video to placate a conservative audience but I feel like instead you are being genuine and in doing so you are being measured in your criticism. It’s nice to see. :)

The problem with ID is if you’re also homeless, it’s hard to get ID. I think it’s more classism, rather than racism though. That being said, I live in a country that requires ID, so I don’t oppose it, I just wish people without mailing addresses were able to easily obtain ID.

In America the DMV of each state offers free photo/state ID for the homeless, both in person, and over the internet from areas and business with free wifi. So even that argument doesn’t really hold water

I couldn't get an ID because I live with family and couldn't prove my address. I have to go back with the person I live with so they can verify that I live there. It has been a year and I never bothered to go back. They made it a pain. I had one thing with my name on it at the address on it and they wanted two. Then my husband tried to use a letter and his DL and they wouldn't accept that either. It is a big pain.

I remember of a story that one of my colleagues told me. She was on vacation with a few of her friends and their families. One of the families had a little boy who was like 3, he was the youngest of all the children. Anytime he said or did something wrong he would say I am sry and It was cute at first but then...as they were sunbathing and the boy was playing in sand there were some old ladies beside them and they started talking very loudly about how he was being very loud and uncultured. I expected the mom to jump in defence of the kid but no she told him to get up and apologise to the old ladies to which the old ladies gave themselves the right to berate the little 3 Yr old. A few days after she told me about her 6 and 8 Yr old daughters were teasing him and pushed him around to keep hearing him say he was sry and then they would say that they didn't accept his apology. The poor boy cried for 2 hours bcs his mother taught him that he should always apologise to women for anything basically. The boy was petrified. Imagine how much trauma this boy will have. I get it some ppl may not agree but I don't think that kids should always apologise, they should learn to stand up for themselves.
@nevenapalibrk40002 жыл бұрын
I am sry for the long paragraph but people need to understand. It's not always solely based on race, I live in the Balkans and here we have prejudice against one another bcs of culture, food, way of living, socioeconomical status...amongst countries that are 99% white...it's wrong, yes...but its present everywhere...until you walk a mile in one's shoes you will never completely understand the other side

Never call CPS. They are so corrupt. What happens to the child can be worse than staying w a lib parent. It’s a slush fund for trafficking, supplemented from the Social Security slush fund that they are always telling us is running out. If you want to help a child - you step in. The community steps in. Anything is better than CPS.
