Great video, I decided to adapt the instructions and measurements for the yanks. I added a few bits here and there. I will be building this week. • Materials ○ 2 - 2x4 ○ 2 ft by 4ft 3/4 or .75 Plywood • Note ○ Pilot holes for all screws ○ Add wood glue to all joints 1. Cut 2x4 - 6.5 feet 2. Cut angle on board, 10-15 degrees 3. Cut 2x4 - 2x - 3 feet length - (2 pieces) 4. Cut 2x4 45 degrees on end of 3 foot section 5. Mark rectangle on opposite end of 3 foot section of 45 degree cut, 4 inch length, .75 depth, cut angle from corner to corner 6. Cut 2x4 - 24 inch for cross brace of feet 7. Cut 45 degree angles on both ends of cross brace 8. Make A frame out of legs and cross brace, put 2X4 scrap in between top ends to ensure proper space for upright 9. Attach brace to upright about a foot from bottom 10. Brace upright to base with 2x4 with both ends cut at 45 degrees, 18-24 inches up from base connection 11. Add 2x4 piece under vertical brace and secure with screws 12. Cut .75 plywood - 7.75 inches x 24 inches (2 pieces) 13. Measure 5 in x 15 in on plywood and cut angle for streamlined front profile 14. Attach plywood parallel from upright with 12 inches in front, use level to ensure proper fit 15. Cut top end of 2x4 upright so it is flush with plywood boards 16. Brace space in between 2 parallel plywood boards with 4 inch 2x4 piece 4.5 inches from end 17. Ensure brace is flush with flat top and angled bottom of plywood pieces 18. Optional Shelf or top cover a. Top Cover i. Measure from plywood brace to back of plywood pieces, will be roughly 21-22 inches ii. Width should be 3 inches depending on your ply iii. Cut rectangle piece and attach with 6-8 screws b. Wing Shelf i. Measure from plywood brace to back of plywood pieces, will be roughly 21-22 inches ii. Measure from plywood brace to tip of upright iii. Mark 5 inches on both sides of plywood and draw diagonal line iv. Cut wing shaped piece and attach to top stand with 8-10 screws v. Add offcuts to side and back and attach with screws 19. Lightly sand with 150 grit paper or block 20. Vacuum or blow off dust and wipe with microfiber or tack cloth to remove dust 21. Paint or seal 22. Add rubber feet to bottom to prevent slippage and water damage

Great video! One small suggestion that some people may find useful is to cut up an old inner tube and tape it to the plywood where the seat and post rest to protect them, and perhaps also grip more securely.

I just built this, super sick. I just bought my first hardtail off Facebook, I'm planning to build it up. I spent all my cash on the bike and didn't have any left for a decent stand. This fills that need, and I did it for a fraction of the cost. Mine came out a little tippy, but since it's just going to be living in the garage I anchored it to the wall so it won't fall. It looks sick, my friends are stoked about it

I just made one following this video!!! saved me 100+ bucks from buying a park tool stand. A local construction site gave me all the wood i needed. Did not paint it however or make the top base for it. I got to install a new derailleur, wheels...etc. Got a frame up and running that day! How convenient!

I've been thinking about building a wooden bike stand for years. This design seems stable, functional, and durable. And is aesthetically pleasing to boot! Yes, I will be building a version of this today. Now, if we could get Blake to build a portable version of this, one that folds up, to dial in bikes in the parking lot before the ride(s)!!!👍

@@olavhouge1677 hey man! No problem. I have seen the PVC style crank arm holder. My opinion is that it's limited in its use. Unable to remove wheels, can't adjust drive train, etc. Good for cleaning, and maintenance not requiring wheel movement or removal.

Love this video, just made my stand and it’s perfect - can always rely on GMBN for anything mtb related. Quick word of advice though, if your going to cut the main long piece of timber to 2 metres you will need another piece of timber as the legs are also 1m each so you are left with only 2x 40cm pieces and you need a 60cm piece for extra bracing. So, In summary if you are going to follow exactly how Blake does it you will need another 60cm piece of timber for the bracing. But you don’t actually need it if you cut the main long piece of timber to 180cm leaving you a 60 cm off cut and I cut the top off of it anyway to make it flush
@shamsta214 жыл бұрын
Yh I cut it to 160 cm and I still didn't have any spare off cuts left The thing is the shelf is the at the top Which too high I'm gonna put it like midway So my bike is high up also I just did it today And it tipped over forwards So going to.uncscrew and.move.the top.nose back

As a woodworker in my past, I'd suggest using PVA glue (or cascamite) as well as the screw joints that you don't want to unscrew in the future, this will make the basic buttjoints MUCH stronger.. Oh, and pilot hole your screw holes to stop splitting :-)

Nice! I'd use the flex of the ply and put a threaded rod between them, and skip the stabilising part (just bolt the "wing" to one of holders). Then you can tighten the ply around the seat post and get the bike more stable.

I need Park Tool's 100-3d Clamp, I need all the angle adjustment it allows, and the clamping is allows, and ease of use, I can clamp the frame alone, just the fork, for cutting steerer, or service. or full rebuild & service of bike, or do awkward brake maintenance jobs, or easily look for cracks or damage, by flipping the bike to extreme angles, like for example bearing swap, and pressing bearings in. this wooden thing doesn't allow me to do that, also height adjustment is useful. but I would not mind a DIY tool tray for repair stand, the Park Tool metal tool tray is not super great but ok for small screws and having degreaser and some lubes there. custom is definitely much better, if you can make it.
