How To Build A Mountain Bike Mini Kicker | Blake Builds A Portable Wooden Jump

Building this simple jump will let you take your bike anywhere to practise tricks and skills. It’s easy to build and transport, and will allow you to session fun areas in the woods, the street or anywhere! You don’t need a bike park or trail centre to get some air! You’re only limited by your imagination. Let Blake show you how he built his 🛠

When using power tools of any kind we advise you to exercise caution and use the appropriate safety gear⚠️
You will need:
Power drill
Hand saw and or a jigsaw (Only if you have parental guidance)
Tape Measure
Pencil
Straight edge (Right angle rule)
Eye safety goggles
2 lengths of 2x1
A sheet of 18mm plywood
A sheet of 9mm plywood
Lots of screws
A bendy length of wood
Paint (optional)
A GMBN sticker
Remember to take your time when screwing the struts into the side boards, and carefully line them up with the curve. It’s also just as important to avoid rushing screwing down the final 9mm ply onto the frame.

Some notes for US builders: the sticks are 1x3s in 8ft length, the ply is one piece of 3/8" ply (OSB i think will be your cheapest option) and the top piece is 3/16" (looks like lauan ply), both 2' x 4'

You can also get a little bit of a bend in plywood by laying it on grass for several hours on a sunny day. One side will absorb moisture causing it to curve. It works better on thinner plywood of course.

Hey :) If the long side of the rectangle makes the ramp bit and the very diagonal as the ground side then you already have your setback of the top lip for loading stability. You then can use a smaller piece to start or build a bigger ramp but anyways have less rest pieces and cut work. If your jigsaw tears the wood some painter crepe can help with that. Awesome, but little Hack, if you want to bend plywood, you could put it into a bathtub with hot water and wait one hour or so, than you can bend it more easily. Guitarbuilders or boatbuilders work with Steam. Best regards from switzerland. Thanks for your awesome and inspiring Content.

Good job building this, turned out awesome! People already told you about soaking the plywood in water and I thought I'd give you another tip for longevity. It's a good idea to use some sort of outdoor coating on the wood to seal it from moisture like wipe on polyurethane or some kind of exterior wood stain. Spray paint won't really do much in that regard. Also, gluing sandpaper or skateboard grip tape on the surface adds grip and even more style to it.
