Honestly, I don't think Justin had decent enough source material unless he had more creative control. The book is trash. Colleen Hoover makes abusive men in every book she writes, this is just the only time it's gotten physically abusive and been recognized as abusive rather than dreamy and romantic. The controlling men she has in all her books are garbage and everything she writes is glamorizing abusive behavior. It sounds like he did his best, but the author and Blake trampled the project.

Coming from the perspective as a survivor of DV, I couldn’t agree more. There’s a lot of grooming and love bombing that happens first and the abuse is about control, complete control over the other person. It’s not just about a man being jealous about another man. Abusers are charming and will wear that face in public and usually only lash out at home in private. It amazed me how much it missed the mark in almost every way because the source material was shallow and didn’t understand the dynamics of the abuser and the victim.

I have no problem with Ryan helping Blake with some added lines for a scene. Most actors will go over a scene and work in a line or two where they feel it's right for the scene and if Ryan helped her with that...fine. The problem I have is her saying on the red carpet that he wrote the scene. If she wanted to say he helped her with her improvisation, etc. that would have been fine, but to insinuate that he wrote the scene was just awful of her.

not really? in it ends with us, flowers are meant to represent lily's resilience and ability to grow something new for herself despite the violence she has endured. the striped pajamas are what the Jewish prisoners wear and are meant to mark them as "less then human." Here’s what makes me the ANGRIEST about all of this. Justin had a podcast, wrote a book about healthy masculinity and it’s been his platform for so long, it’s why he wanted to take on this movie. For him to now be facing charges that he was “too intense” in some of the scenes, fatshamed blake (by asking his trainer how much she weighed when he had to lift her so he literally didn’t hurt his already injured back), that he’s the embodiment of everything he’s probably fought for years to teach people not to be is probably devastating to him. And he can’t fight back for fear of verifying what everyone is saying, hence the PR team. I think Blake should just listen to the audience and maybe do damage control. All this negativity came with her marketing the movie as a rom-com. She should just take accountability and maybe take a step back. Not all publicity is good publicity because now everyone hates her and because of crowd mentality like it or not her brands are now suffering too.

She must have the same thing Jennifer Lopez has. Narcissism. No amount of advice or feedback will make them take a step back and self reflect. They’ll continue to push ahead, ignoring everyone’s advice and do what they wanna do anyway. You know it’s bad even when a top Hollywood’s star PR is unable to hide their true colours to the public.

Can people stop with this crap? Bad shit has happened everywhere. There's no place on this earth that has been occupied by humans where slavery and other horrendous shit hasn't happened. Native Americans suffered way more on their own lands than anyone. If no one is allowed to get married on plantations, they better not get married anywhere. In fact, only Native Americans should be allowed to get married in the US. Would I ever get married at a plantation? Nope. But I would love to get married at a castle, and few castles haven't had horrible shit happen in them at some point. Slavery isn't remotely the only bad thing to have happened.

Look I don’t know Blake Lively but I can obviously see “how” she is promoting and discussing a movie about a very serious topic. I grew up in DV and I experienced it also as an adult. I can assure you that it is a devastating nightmare! She’s a turn-off to survivors like me because she’s too lighthearted about it!!! She’s not concerned about DV!! She’s promoting other things like herself, her products and her husband. She’s silly when it comes to this. All people like me ask is that she shows some respect to the topic of the movie. Justin has done that from the start!! He’s shown respect.

Review of It Ends With Us (from a guy's POV): I am a guy and I had never heard of the book before watching the film, which we only went to because the girls in our friend group insisted on it. I must say that I really hope the book is significantly better (as is often the case), because the film was garbage. The acting was bad to mediocre, with only the husband displaying any acting chops. For a movie about domestic violence, its laughable how little screen time was given to the actual issue or message. They would rather cram in the maximum number sex scenes they possibly could. The first half of the movie is just softcore p*rn, and the second half suddenly trauma dumps on you. Blake's character is also insanely naive throughout the film and its honestly annoying. I've known victims of domestic violence and they're often very smart women who cannot escape their abuser due to a plethora of reasons. The film almost paints the victims as naive idiots who make the worst decisions. I've never been a fan of Blake Lively, but I like Ryan Reynolds so I've supported them throughout their careers. However, I feel like we're getting to a point where we're seeing too much of the same from these two and its causing a burnout.

A single scene isn’t going to earn Mr. Reynolds any writing credits. You have to write at least 50% of the script in order to gain any kind of credit. There are plenty of writers who are called in to rewrite two or three scenes, or even just write dialogue for certain films, and they don’t receive any credit.

One red flag that I don't think anyone talks about enough is how Blake is cozying up to Colleen. The same Colleen Hoover who writes incest smut and covers up SA allegations against her son and doesn't believe in trigger warnings. Colleen Hoover who writes absolute shit, but whose pockets get lined anyway despite being problematic. That, in itself, is a flaming hot red flag to me that should be very telling of who Blake is as a person. Idc if they're only appearing close because of the movie promos. I can't ever fathom working for and praising someone like that, on screen and very publicly.
