I went to school with this man and have got the pleasure of playing music with him and the other members but I went to high school with him and I also play drums. We both where part of the local metal scene here in the Triad especially Camel City (winston salem, nc) To see where my comrades went and how far they took their art, I am blown away and to say Blake Is one of the best drummers to ever live and I have some chops my self ask him personally if you don't believe me.... My name is Jacob Smith and we went to MT. Tabor high school in winston- salem, nc.. LOVE YOU GUYS KEEP NC ON THE MAP GOAT

This is by far the best explanation of Blake Richardson on a drum kit.
@beto15804 жыл бұрын
True! I feel he's not stretching himself enough in the last 3 BTBAM records. His drumming is perfect, but the band (with this "regular prog" direction they've taken) doesn't play that face melting, crunchy parts anymore, so he has to hold himself back, you know? Makes me sad to know he won't write and play something like Swim to the Moon or Fossil Genera anymore :-/
@flagmuffin12214 жыл бұрын
@@beto1580 I mean, he might? But he also is still part of the band and loving it, so who's to say he's not already over blast beating?
@fVNzO4 жыл бұрын
@@beto1580 It could easily be that they've gotten older and are trying to write some more coherent music in general. It's perfectly understandable that you want to try different things. But I do think that the drumming from colors to the parallax were the best he's done.
@dinospumoni56114 жыл бұрын
@@fVNzO IDK to me it seems more like they're trying fewer different things than they were before, Colors is overwhelmingly more ambitious than anything they've done since, to me it's more them getting comfortable in their formula than trying something new

That kit sounds amazing! The snare cracks like a punch to the face and the kick pretty much kicks you right in the gut! That's probably the best sounding Tama kit I've ever heard! I really like the Toms in this video, it's not like how Mike portnoys high Tom's always sounded cartoonish in fact I disliked their sound so much that it took away from some really good parts of their songs, but with Blake they feel like they genuinely have a place in this peace, they're gracefully written in on top of how ambient and beautiful the symbols are

That live kick drum tone has gotten clickier and clickier since Automata was released. It was the first thing I noticed when I saw them do that quick tour with Leprous and Dear Hunter at the Dallas stop. I honestly thought it was fluke because Blake seemed to run out and change the kick mic right before they went on and then do a quick check. I could hear everything still being leveled out by the third song in the set. I guess Blake just prefers the presence it adds now.

Can't wait for more playthroughs! I've always been a huge fan of your drumming. Also is it just me or did you convert your main pedal to a direct drive?

It looks like it, a thin solid link where a fat double chain should be. Gonna look into this, I have iron cobras too
@andreitimofti5 жыл бұрын
