For the record, I printed this with overture PLA/TPU. PLA: 3 walls, 20% cubic infill, 430g, ~$7. 10h TPU: 2 walls, 15% adaptive cubic infill, 380g, ~$7. 29h All in, $15ish and nearly 2d printing time Used some glue stick on the TPU after watching how difficult it was for him to get it off (came off very easily). Soapy sponge and a screwdriver to get it on past the spine indent bit. Working great so far.

Use dish soap on anything that has an interference fit. The pieces will slip together and then just wash off the excess the squishes out. Fantastic video!

Or WD40 but I don't know how it will react with PLA. it's not a lubricant, but it will evaporate, so we use it to put on motorcycle grips. Old guys cringe when I do it, but it holds just as well as hair spray.

That alcohol on the desk would do the same thing, but ... cleaner? I use it to install mountain bike handle bar grips. Slips on easily, dries and doesn't ever budge.

Can of compressed air that contains benzene. Spray it upside down, and you'll get a frost effect on it due to how cold the air is. This will shrink the part that you need a bit smaller, and it'll slide in even easier 👌

Pretty cool but that part could have been printed as a single TPU part, with the inner core fairly solid (4+ perimeter layers and 25-50% infill) and the squishy outer part designed so it prints with thin flexible structures separated by voids.

That cost was in material, how much to run the whole project on the printer, wear and tear, electric, failed prints, etc... Then again, if running as a business and you were going to sell these, how much in postage, packaging, breakage, returns, etc... Interesting long print though.
