@Mobileblaster
@Mobileblaster Жыл бұрын
@oscar rafael martinez arguello ideally you need to know what workload you plan on taking on as this will decide the size of the compressor. 140/180 good size for 1 man starting out to get the feel for things then 260 ish if your good at driving with a trailer. 350+ if you have the ability and workload. The compressor determine the nosel size you need loads of charts online to match cfm psi to the available air 👌 these videos arnt a how too they is alot more to blasting than these videos show please keep that in mind what works for me my not be the only way to blast 👍 everyone dose things their own way and I'm sure you will finds methods that will work better for your style

Mick, as mentioned in one of my previous comments I asked if the spot on the bucket arm and light bracket were left untouched for a reason. I watched the video again and it seems that they were left untouched for a reason. One of the plausible reasons could be for color matching purposes. You went up the arm to a point and stopped. The light bracket was never touched in spite of you meticulously cleaning those areas 2 or 3 times. Plausible? In spite of what the client wants, how often do you go above and beyond because it looks better or reveals something the client didn't see?

It can last up untill it starts getting wet or humidity getting to it I've had jobs in the unit for months and it's still been fine but I've also blasted jobs and in the morning and put the parts in the van to drop off later and they looked as if they hadn't been blasted 🫣
@chrisdzisiak7540
@chrisdzisiak7540 Жыл бұрын
In reality they start to rust immediately! The question is how bad is the environment that the unit/piece is in. By the sea ? Inland after two weeks of dry weather? If you want it to last you need to start coating as soon as possible. The trick is that’s where the real profit is in a business like this, provide extra services and reap the benefits without changing job site. More overhead and more risks, but you get paid accordingly.

@Mobileblaster
@Mobileblaster Жыл бұрын
100% without a doubt blasting wins hands down in every aspect. Hears my take perches price cannot compete as they are 50 to 100x more expensive to purchase they take 50x to 100x more power to even come close to the lowest spec blaster. They are 10x + slower to complete a project. They cannot profile so no good to repaint over you still will need to sand the project to key for paint. One could argue they don't make dust that's true but they also pollute so about the same. Don't get me wrong I'm all for the method and would love the technology to catch up as more options can only mean a good thing for the end user 👍

SHORT jabs are not as good as a steady stream of movement...or at least longer passes. The short jabs waste sand and nit certain areas more than they need. Over repeating as you do just pits the metal even more than it needs.
@Mobileblaster
@Mobileblaster 9 ай бұрын
In a ideal world yeah long even passes is the fastest way but when they is multiple layers of scale and paints I like to keep the hotspot moving as I'm not only keeping a eye on what's happening I'm watching the splash doing short jabs won't make a massive problem if the slash is attacking something is shouldn't 👍 on the tanks I blast that long uniform passes is the best method as I don't have to worry about the waste and they are flat uniform clean

If you want to renovate this machine CORRECTLY, it should look like this: 1. disassembly of all corroded elements (in the case of such a terribly neglected machine - total disassembly), 2. sandblasting each detail SEPARATELY, one by one, 3. EVERY detail must be primed IMMEDIATELY after sandblasting - freshly sandblasted steel is very susceptible to rapid corrosion!!! 4. removing deformations and defects and, if there are many of them, re-priming. 5. final painting, at least two layers. 6. assembly and commissioning of the machine. In my opinion, it's a month of intense work for two people. REMOVING RUST WITHOUT DISMANTLING WILL DO MORE HARM THAN BENEFITS!!!! If it turns out that the engine, gearbox, chassis drive units and main oil pump require thorough repairs, then the economic sense of renovating this machine, in my opinion, is a big question mark.

To do this job "Correctly" you listen to the owner and blast what you're told to. You are obversly not a blaster and have done too much Googlein you don't need to paint immediately blasted steel will last days weeks months even years before primer is needed that will be determined by the humidity levels and if you can keep the part(s) dry. I cannot comment on the paint but I do know something they make a paint called DTM direct to metal (rain coat/ one coat all the same stuff) no primer and 1 coat covers 70% sheen ideal for truck chassis heavy plant etc. I'm not saying blasting like this is how to do it the proper way and the only way but it's how I do it well it's how I get told to do it. I know this company has been in business for 70 plus years I think they know whats needed and how much man hours and money to put into a unit that's going back out on hire

I hate to say this, but who ever hired you to do this job played you like a fiddle. They kept strange areas off the quote to keep the price down, knowing that your professionalism would not allow you to do a half ass job. In my opinion the person who owns this item was negotiating in bad faith and you should charge them more for doing the job correctly.

Why the fcuk would you only ask for part of it to be done?🤷‍♂️ 😁. Either do it properly or don't bother at all! Obviously it'll look better than before but it's going to be obvious it's only had half a paint job which is going to make people a bit suspicious if you're selling it on. I'd be a bit wary buying a machine that has obviously had a freshen up and they'd only bothered to do half of it! I kinda makes you wonder what else they've cut corners on🤔. Sorry mate, no rant intended! 😂

@@Mobileblaster Fair enough mate, but yeah best policy not to ask😁. Do you do coatings yourself or do you let the customer get someone in? I imagine the coatings side of things is another can of worms best avoided? 🙂. BTW what sort of blasting pot do you run? I'm interested to know what kind of setup you have a preference for in regards to the equipment. I do a little bit of blasting myself but mostly for myself and on my property. I got setup with an old compair C73 and a nice new hodge clemco 1448NC soft blast pot. I intended doing a lot of soda blasting on classic vehicles etc, but as yet it's mostly been old farm equipment and machinery with crushed glass😒. Getting dry air was one of the biggest headaches, but I picked up an old HPC refrigerant air dryer and jerry rigged it to run on our single phase supply using phase converter. Also just finished cobbling together a mobile air dryer using the aftercooler out of a 750cfm compair compressor and a large buffer tank along with some extra filtration, it's an unsightly beast but it seems to work quite well at the flow rates I use. Regards. 👍

@ronaldmustermann3304 well I'm not sure if you know the UK law but all motor vehicles sorry automotive(anything thats painted in a body shop other than industrial this is not industrial even then they need a licence) painting is water-based paint so none toxic and biodegradable and its been the law since 2007 with this been a 2018 unit I believe its water-based and biodegradable also the media used was recycled and approved blast media in turn means none toxic and its already a waste product 😉 👍 I hope I've cleared your query and welcome you to ask anymore questions you may have I hope I can help with them 👌👍
