From all of the videos I see about expensive Lionel locomotive arriving damaged and or with missing part. Is nice to see that the locomotive is securely packed and with no damage to it.

What a great looking locomotive, Sean! The details, the sounds, amazing features all make this a winner! Really beautiful to watch running on the rails in full service. What a shame the original owner never let it see the light of day, but a big plus for you.

I've never heard of that locomotive before. I was not aware the Pennsylvania Railroad had articulated locomotive. It's nice that it does not have a leading or trailing truck that's probably why it could take tighter radius than ones that do.

In some of my issues of Model Railroader dating from the late 1940s to the 1950s you will see articulated locomotives like that that people built out of two Lionel engines. No Bells no whistles the ones I've seen show Exquisite craftsmanship and joining the two engines together and they work as good as they look. I wonder where they are now I can imagine they probably have been through several owners having outlived them. There is so much used flying all stuff floating around I imagine that there are probably somewhere on somebody's layout. Doing what it was built to do. People don't do that type of work on their train anymore. It shows such a creative Edge I mean to make it articulated out of two locomotives lots of skill there.

Excellent video. How would we purchase such a pristine engine, new, unused stock? At york or what specific dealer? On ebay, I seem to get engines with problems- warped bodies, bad smoke units or bad fan. Did better on ebay 10 or more years ago. What source do you recommend for such pristine engines? Am willing to travel since we have less than 3 train stores left in nj Gary j

There's no one place, it just depends on where they show up. Trains show can be some of the best places.

You don't have to do any of that when you lose a Traction Tire. There is a product called frog snot. It is a liquid that you brush on to the wheel that has Traction Tire and it bonds to the wheel as well as it becomes a Traction Tire on the wheel without having to take anything apart. I've seen people use it on just about any type of locomotive all the way down to N scale. It was easy to use and it did what it said it was easier than replacing a Traction Tire.

Sean, how's your lights holding up. On mine, the front should be white, it's like pink, the red is like a pinkish tone on running, and the green looks to be fading yellowish tint. I don't know if it's age or LED going. Also, my cab light stays on all the time when running ,don't shut when in run mode. PS tried the contact link in about Colum, but send me back here to the youtube page.

Nice find and good review as always. Do you like your FastTrack? Are you glad you used it over other options or have you had any issues or regrets?
@seanstraindepot
@seanstraindepot Жыл бұрын
I have not had any issues at all, and I used it because at the time (now 15 years) it was the only track system that could incorporate the Lionel LCS system (sensor tracks). That of course has changed now. So, If I would do it today, I might pick a different system but not 100% sure. But cost wise for track switches, having to only ballast the sides, etc. It is the most cost effective with a total integrated system (LCS). Also, less complicated to setup (switches are all command, ready to go, no extra motors to buy like some others, etc.) Each has Pros and Cons.

Years ago Kaline came out with a 027 sized big boy. I ordered one and then I forgot about it because it took so long waiting for it. I came home one day to find it on my stoop. I asked about returning it and they said they would if I paid $100 fee and since the engine was only $400 I decided to keep it. It is a conventional engine but I don't need all the fancy Electronics. Electronics even brand-new in-the-box go bad they suffer from delamination. When is circuit board in my Williams engines go out I just wire in a rectifier in the locomotive. I don't need the sound effects for a railroad crossing. So hard to find conventional engines. The last thing I needed another damn remote control. I swear everything nowadays has a damn remote control. It may be smaller than scale but it is corrected its proportions it doesn't look stunted like the Lionel turbine. When classic toy train road-tested article on it they said that Kaline Mystics Mark and they should have made it in a scale as well so they could sell it to American Flyer fans. A big engine for small railroads. I am glad I did not send it back. Two-thirds the size of a scale locomotive while being only 1/10 the price of a big scale big boy with all the bells and whistles. A nice affordable engine. Like I said a big engine for small railroads.

Jack door on the front of the locomotive open the smokebox. If it wasn't for all of us except HO scale modelers the new trains would not exist and they would certainly not have the detail that they have. Our standards are much much higher than simple Lionel trains. We are used to scale size scale detailing and everything being correct. All piping Airlines hand lines everything like that all to be correct for the locomotive. That's why they are so realistic looking and the old Lionel is so toy like.
@frankmarkovcijr5459
@frankmarkovcijr5459 Жыл бұрын
Personally as a Model Railroader I could do fine without all these gimmicky features. Simple locomotive are easy to maintain and repair when necessary. I don't use sound or smoke. The trains make enough noise going around the layout as it is. It's a shame that locomotive was not issued in conventional as well as Vision or TMCC or whatever the hell think it's got. Just like on a motorcycle I don't need all of that expensive electronic gimmick that they have on today's higher-grade locomotive. Frankly as long as it moves forward I don't need anything else. I know a guy with MTH T1 Pennsylvania steam locomotive that had PS1 which went bad and he just had it wired up to go forward and that's all you need really.
The RAREST Steam Engine in my collection!!
