It was said long time ago though, so that needed to be kept in mind.

Personally, I would expand your base roster by 6 characters (3 more characters per side) and your DLC selection by four characters (2 more per side). Guilty Gear: - Millia Rage: I'm not sure how she slipped past the radar, but she should be in there 100%. - Axl Low: Same as above. - Leo Whitefang - Bridget (DLC) - Slayer (DLC) BlazBlue: - Carl Clover - Taokaka - Litchi Faye-Ling - Es (DLC) - Jubei (DLC) All this amounts to a final roster of 42 characters. Not bad, if I do say so myself.

Yeah, this is the crossover that's SO obvious yet they just HAVEN'T done it yet! ArcSys isn't against the idea....but apparently there needed to be a prerequisite to be met, specifically "have Sol Badguy's story be concluded" and luckily SPOILERS guess what happened in Strive's story mode!(definitely not as SAD as Ragna's ending but a satisfying one it still is) So this game MIGHT be in our near future eventually.(still enjoyed the video of course) Also I would really like to see an even more obscure character from GG that's more less known then Testament, Bridget, Zappa or even A.B.A.:Leopaldon from GG Itsuka. And Testament's alignment did change to good as he's now an anti-hero with his appearance in the Guilty Gear X games including the DS port of Guilty Gear XX Guilty Gear: Dust Strikers seeing him fighting on the side of good is how he atones for the crimes he committed in the OG Guilty Gear with him keeping an eye on Sol's daughter Dizzy as one of the ways he's atoning for his past crimes. So if the version of Testament for this hypothetical GG X BB game is his Guilty Gear X version then he could as part of the storyline despite wanting to live the life of a somewhat pacifistic hermit in the woods he would pick up the scythe and fight on the side of good against the team of Hazama/Terumi, and I-No as in his mind by fighting for the sake of both innocent humans, and innocent gears is part of him earning atonement for all the crimes he committed in the Guilty Gear 1.

This is an awesome roster. My one character I’d want would be Platinum, since I’m a fan of the magical girl genre, and she was seemingly inspired by one of the shows that got me into the genre (Nanoha). I also think she’d be a good fit for May’s rival, being cutesy girls with giant weapons. Though Makoto’s a great pick as well, so I can’t complain. I really hope ArcSys makes this crossover real at some point. I think I remember hearing they didn’t want to do a GG crossover until they were done with its story? I forget where I heard that, but if that’s the case, we can maybe expect this game soon after that happens, like how BBTag came out shortly after BB’s story finished.

Tbh they seem to be really close to the end of the story now that Strive is out. Without going into details, most of the big story arcs are resolved. It currently ends on a cliffhanger but they already confirmed more to come with the dlc pass and as far as I see it that is probably going to be more of an epilogue to tie up loose ends and maybe set up for a "sequel" of sorts. So we might see this crossover fairly soon, at least I hope so.

Thinking more on this list, I feel a big flaw in the roster at least for the GG side, is aside from Nago, there is not a single one appearance only character. Like no bedman, or answer, or A.B.A or Bridget or the like. The roster for the GG side feels very safe except for its exclusions like Johnny or Slayer. That's just me tho, it didnt feel like there was any wild card picks

For what characters I'd put on each side, I was thinking 24 for the base game but I'll bump it up to 26 for the sake of your idea of a starting roaster size. I'm also more for varying the roaster a bit more rather than trying to match up every character to another perfectly. There is 100% interaction material between each character pairing so I'm not concerned about that. I'm actually more concerned with properly representing various parts of the series history. So for the the Blazblue side I would include: Ragna, Jin, Noel, Rachel, Taokaka, Tager, Bang, Hakumen, Nu-13, Hazama, Relius, Kokonoe, and Naoto. All of them are them through Nu are all core characters, Hazama is the more iconic villain, Relius is a puppet character and villain as well as one of the most powerful characters lore-wise. Kokonoe and Naoto are a good variety for play styles as well as being good representation for the newer entries in the franchise. On the Guilty Gear Side I would include: Sol, Ky, May, Potemkin, Millia, Faust, Dizzy, Zato, Slayer, Ramlethal, Leo, I-No, and Nagoriyuki. Again, everyone is a serious core character through to Zato, while Slayer is THE powerhouse of an ArcSys character that everyone thinks of when they think of memes (Aside from Faust). Ram and Nago are both good representation of the newer games much like Koko and Naoto as well as being insanely popular. I-No is the playable villain you envision much like Hazama when it comes to GG, and Leo and just the kind of character that NEEDS to be included in the game in some way shape or form and I think from a developer point of view it makes more sense to include him as a base game character rather than DLC. Where I'm going to differ with you format and opinions the most is the DLC though. I agree that there definitely would be some, but I'm thinking more than less. So instead of there being 6 for three characters from each series, I'm going to go with 10 for 5 from each and pretend that they'd drop five waves with two characters coming per-wave, mostly because that's how they did it with BBTAG. So my picks for the Blazblue DLC would be: Tsubaki (or Izayoi), Nine, Arakune, Jubei, and Terumi. As much as I do like Makoto, I don't think she should be superseding Tsubaki who is WAY more important to the plot of Blazblue and comes with two incredibly unique play styles that you could choose for her so Makoto would be a second wave DLC or beyond for me. I agree that Nine is a fan favorite and that her playstyle is super cool which is specifically why I think it would be better to have her as DLC. There's a ton of good picks in the base roster with some "Whoa" picks as well, so keeping Nine for DLC would 100% get people interested. Arakune and Litchi are the two major OGs not represented still and I think Arakune is a more interesting pick between the two in both design and play-style. Jubei and Terumi are the two powerhouses of the series and I think having them both be playable makes sense, especially having Terumi as another villain (I do think Susaano is a good pick as well). My picks for Guilty Gear DLC would be: Baiken, Johnny, Jack-O, Raven, and Brigid. Baiken and Johnny as you said are REALLY popular, which is why both of them are 100% going to be DLC in Strive which is why it also makes the most sense to have them as DLC here as well. I think Jack-O is the character that would fit Blazblue the best of any GG character, her whole gimmick is basically a Drive in the first place and she's super popular. I want another villain for GG as well and I honestly think Raven is the best pick, I like his style and character and I see them using a more recent character than someone niche like Testament or Justice who I wouldn't imagine them bringing back to the series in a crossover. Brigid is my final pick because just like Baiken and Johnny he's an insanely popular pick with a fun style that would differ just enough from the rest of the cast. If I were to pick two additional characters that are REALLY close to being picked by me it would be Izanami and either Elphelt or Giovanna. It's all just my thoughts though. I'm here still hoping for more BBTAG DLC or P5A so who knows what we'll get any more.

Just wanted to help with rival stuff, so here's some thoughts on the stuff you got stumped on. Testament vs nu 13: the former puppet of Justice vs. The puppet of hazama. Faust vs. Nine: a doctor who went insane but regained his sanity vs. The mage genius who was corrupted by madness and not willing to comeback to the light. Celica vs zato : the key to the future vs the key to resurrection. Or the person brought back to save the world vs the person resurrected only to test the possibility and was meant to die and didn't and is able to redeem himself. Hakumen vs ram: the hero of lore who lost it all vs the doll who gained emotion and therefore got everything to live her life as she wants to. Or what you said about the boundary and the backyard. Baiken vs azreal: the beastly woman with bloodlust toward one individual (that man) vs the beastly man with bloodlust toward all who are deemed strong by him. Dlc section Hibiki vs jam: the right hand man to an official who dutifully serves vs. The woman who works for only herself and her restaurant. Great video, Thorgi. I’m really digging this series. I think a good idea for a Build a Roster episode you could have fun with would be for a Digimon fighting game. Could work as a 3v3 or 1 on 1. Only rules I could think to apply is to pick humanoid Digimon only, and ignore the power levels of various Digimon. Meaning we could have a match between Angemon (Champion level), Weregururumon (Ultimate level) and Wargreymon (Mega level). And there’s a lot of awesome looking Digimon to pick from so you’d have ALOT of fun picking fighters.

Personally don't think this needs to be 6 Buttons. Team BB could keep their usual ABCD system with the added Dust button, and GG can keep PKSH+Dust with an input or 2 for a Drive-like function (Utility move or attack with utility properties). Though for the time being, I'm going to suggest Drives as if this were a 6 Button Fighter with PKSH Drive and Dust. Feel free to add to this. Sol: [CHARGE] Just give him Order Sol's Charge move. Give him a special meter near his Tension/Heat that can be charged up by holding Drive. Once you fill the meter halfway (Level 1), he gains access to enhanced special moves similar to how Jin can access his EX Moves: Do the input, but also press Drive along with whatever button you'd normally press to perform the EX Move. Fill the bar up all the way (Level 2), and you gain access to even further enhanced Specials in place of the previous ones, enhanced Supers, and access to Order Sol's Deadly Rave if you also have 100 Tension/Heat. Also throw in his Charge Burst and Action Charge as well. Ky: [DURANDAL CALL] Apparently this was a term for his old Grinder gimmick from Xrd... I think. Whatever it was called, you get the idea: Ky does some moves that spawn Grinders, which can be shot with his different projectiles (Stun Edge, Charged Stun Edge, Sacred Edge) to "fortify" the projectiles, given them some different and enhance properties. Dizzy: There's no NEED to make her a stance character where she switches between Necro and Undine like how Nu used to have a Stance change in vanilla Chronophantasma, but it's an option. Alternatively, her fish and bubble could become Drive Moves adjusted to accommodate the motionless inputs. Potemkin: No idea. Maybe modify how Giganter works so it can be used as a more versatile Drive style move rather than just an Aegis Reflector Super. Chipp: [TSUYOSHISHIKI MEISEI] That one "invisibility" Special he lost during the transition to Strive. Hold Drive to increase perform an enhanced version of this move that makes it harder to see him. I-No: Heck if I know. May: [APPLAUSE FOR THE VICTIM] Hoops. Testament: Either something with his crow or EXE Beast. Faust: [WHAT COULD THIS BE?] Does this need explaining? Zato: [SUMMON EDDIE] Again, does this need explaining? Ramlethal: [DEPLOY] Repurpose her Deploy Giant Swords move into a Drive. Nagoriyuki: No clue. Great video as always. Definitely a badass cast that makes a lot of sense. The biggest problem I have with what you said is that you claimed we couldn't have both roman cancels and overdrive. Get out of here. Those are some of the coolest mechanics in fg history and Blazblue has rapid cancels already, so it's not a stretch to have them both. What if you want to eliminate one mechanic just remove the dust button. We can do without it. I think your cast is completely fair, but I would personally do a few changes. 1. I want to shoutout Bedman for being my favourite GG character and the character that got me into fgs, but I can't justify including him. Testament is absolutely the more iconic GG setup character. And Ram is the character that should represent Xrd. 2. Relius instead of Celica. I think his personallity would make for fun interaction and it would be great to see his Astral Finish on the GG cast. Specially on I-no. 3. Litchi instead of Hakumen. Hakumen is really cool, but he is technically another character that's already in the roster and Litchi is just as iconic. Plus, your roster has a lot of playstyle variety, but it could use a stance character and she is the perfect fit. 4. Slayer instead of Nagoriyuki. Nago is a badass character and you're right about how Strive should be represented with his inclusion. But I still qould prefer Slayer. He is very iconic and I think he would have more interesting interactions.

I already have a perfect idea for the interaction Justice is about to face all the heros in a epic finally battle but susano'oh to jump in and start beating down every one, ranga and sol try to take both down at once. Susano'oh notices justice, and grabs him and using the energy/magic of two worlds colliding to install him self into justice's systems (not exactly sure how it works I'm not a robot expert) and finally gets the new body he's been craving.
