That sure is an aggressive tooth bar Martin. I've got one out in the woods that I need to fit onto the B3030. It's old, but with new Bobcat teeth it should work really well. It sure won't be as good as the Piranha one though. I find it interesting how machinery and attachments continually evolve. Ya done real good my friend !! One of these days, you'll find out how exiting it is to drop a wheel into a hole just as the opposite tire hits a short stump or a big rock !! That becomes real exciting really quick. LOL

You have such a nice place there. I'm always a little jealous of how flat it is there. Most of my place is so steep it's hard to get to with the tractor without first cutting trails with an excavator, but I'm slowly chipping away at it. Keep up the great work and thanks for taking us along!

Thank you, Crusher! Most of our 17 acres is on one big gently sloping hill with some flat areas near the creek at the base of the hill. Only a couple of areas have steep hills that I would have to cut into with my backhoe or an excavator to make a trail. Thanks for watching!

I learned so much from you all that do tractor channels. We have ten acres of woods in Michigan. I took delivery of my Kubota in November 2020. I have 87 hours on it. I did order that land rake like yours it’s a great tool. Keep up the great work. Cheers.

I think I just saw you back by my house still pulling on the vine. 😂 They are often loosely wrapped up in the canopy so that is common. I'd give that cut stump a little dose of a strong herbicide as soon as you cut it to kill the root system. Those things travel a long way underground. Trails are looking good. 👍

I, honestly, think you'd be a lot better using a brush cutter or flail mower. Grape Vines add wildlife diversity, I would leave them. Every time you hit a tree root, you create the potential for tree damage. Dead trees are not asthetically appealing or safe along a trail. Your forest is pretty open, so simply mowing the brush would be pretty much all you need to do. Maybe add in long term silviculture to your trail making. I love tractor work also.
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay Жыл бұрын
Hi Richard! I occasionally use my brush hog to maintain the trails, but that’s not enough to cut a trail. The loader and tooth bar, backhoe, back blade, box blade and chainsaw are the tools of choice. I try to go around trees when possible but some times they must go. And if a big root is in the way, it goes to. Grape vines too, if they are in the way. There are plenty other grapevines in the woods. I cut down snags near the trails, if I think it’s safe to do so. Sometimes it’s not and we just make note of them and keep an eye on them. Thanks for watching!

Hi Martin-Enjoyed this video as I do all of yours. I hope to make some trails on my property now that I have recently joined the ranks of the retired and have the time to focus on a number of projects. Only problem I have is we grow rocks/boulders like weeds in this part of NE CT. Sadly I found one hidden under tall brush with my oil pan. Lets say it was a costly oversight and I am now a tad gun shy about bringing my baby back in the woods. You have inspired me to persevere and 'll reevaluate once the leaves are down in the fall and see if I can find some areas that are less of a minefield. Michael

Looks like you were going slow enough that this wouldn't have snuck up on you but it can be dangerous pulling off the bucket while it's raised because it can end up lifting the rear of the tractor if it doesn't work. Not particularly related to you but there are plenty of videos of mishaps that the peanut gallery judges very harshly and I don't think a lot of people consider how much less fine controls of your hands and feet you have when the thing you're sitting on is jerking you around. There are lots of machinery accidents that went past a literal or figurative 'tipping point' because the operator couldn't make the right move while ALSO being moved themselves. Anyway, i didn't consider pulling on that vine in that way unsafe at those speeds, but i just felt the need to point out the POSSIBILITY of something going wrong pulling with a raised bucket.
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay 2 жыл бұрын
Good point! Yes pulling from the bucket with it raised can be hazardous, but as you pointed out, not in this case. The key is knowing the limits of the machine and your abilities. Thanks for watching!
