I really love all the small callbacks in this episode. When Ichigo arrives he says the same thing Kenpachi said to him when he saved him from Nniotora. Renji says the same thing to Ichigo that Ichigo told him on Sokyoku Hill. Byakuya gives Rukia his scarf after acknowledging her strength the same way he did to Renji.

I think you got it the other way around - shikai is older woman (that's why he heard older woman's voice in the muken) and yachiru is the bankai's spirit (that's why yachiru appears and basically gave the bankai powers to kenpachi later on and was with him during that time)

I think it’s pretty clear that Kenpachi is the shinigami version of Coyote Starrk. Where his reishi was so immense that he split a piece off and it became a sentient being, just like Lilynette.

Oda himself has confirmed that Yachiru is Nozarashi's bankai spirit who was manifested for so long she sort of became a soul in her own right. Also, Starrk didn't split off just because he was powerful. He was able to split because he was powerful but he chose to because he was lonely, which Kenpachi was never really shown to be lonely. Also also, Starrk and Lilynette were both created when they split, we have no idea what kind of Arrancar they were before they split but it was neither Starrk or Lilynette, Kenpachi was the same person before and after he met Yachiru.

The funniest thing about Ichigo no-selling the Bambi's is that all four of them are Captain level threats. And, not gonna lie, I wasn't a big fan of Candice or Giselle in the manga, but the anime has really turned me around on them. I find both of them funny as shit. Similar to Mask, really.

Best adapted episode next to the head captain and Ichigo vs juha fights. This had shinigami arc ichigo feel to it using his fists and sword to handle a bunch of scrubs. Better than the manga where Candice was somehow supposed to be a good introduction fight to the 0 squad training Ichigo. This episode did everything right making all the Bambi fight and still lose

This episode was so fucking good! I thought this really explained well why Kenpachi struggled to take the Bambis down. Ichigo’s entrance with the new version of “Number One” was extraordinary! I loved the interaction between Ichigo and Kenpachi. I loved that Ichigo was utterly unfazed by the Bambis. The Bambis basically having Voll Stern Dich be a magical girl transformation makes so much sense and is so funny to me. You can really see Ichigo’s power and power increase because Getsuga Tenshō is no longer this big move, it’s like flicking a wrist. And the attack looks even stronger. Getsuga Jūjishō looks amazing! I don’t know why but I laughed really hard when Gigi got bit in the neck by Liltotto’s attack. I think showing Aizen was to set up that he is one of the five war powers. I was hoping they would add the Uryu and Ichigo fight. I guess that will be later on. And who/what does the title "Headless Star" refer to? Ichigo? Uryu?

IMO…Ichigo vs. The Bambies would’ve been a lot more entertaining had Bambietta been involved, too. She and Candice raging together would’ve been a sight to see lol. Also, we probably would’ve seen Bambi’s Sklaverei Bombing Bambi. Plus, I want to see the banter between all five of them. Such a missed opportunity.

I have to respectfully disagree with you on these four working well together as a team. IMO they have no sense of true teamwork with the way they kept almost hitting each other with their attack, actually hitting each other with their attacks, simply watching one of them get their ass handed to them by Ichigo without even going to check on them (which was hilarious by the way), and pushing each other out of the way. Like the Bambies really ain’t shit lol. I still love them though. The Bambies really made this episode fun. Their Vollständig transformations gave me Sailor Moon vibes. They said “Moon Prism Power, Make Up!” I’m also really glad they kept the scene of the rest of the Bambies landing on Candice in various ways. It was hilarious in the manga and it was hilarious in the anime. Ichigo came back and showed those girls why we call him Ichigoat! I also loved how he told Candice to dodge his attack. He’s HIM but he’s also a gentleman. 🥹

And boy I absolutely love how Narita, who’s the author for the light novel, showed us audience that the Femritters are still alive, haven’t been forgotten or largely ignored. I’m glad they lived, cause you don’t have to have every Sternritter be killed off. If there’s one thing I would’ve liked to see is Bambietta get dezombified back to normal. That was like my only criticism is the fact that Bambietta is still in her zombie state. Hopefully the anime will change it.

It is still funny to me that Kubo still had to nerf Kenpachi for the Gremmy fight and with his short clash with the Bambis so he could be defeated by them and get rescued by Ichigo. I like thinking that leaving the eyepatch on versus Gremmy was a tactical choice by Kenpachi to further allow Gremmy's imagination to struggle to grasp his full power, but I don't see why he would keep it on when his men are getting destroyed.
