One easy way to do bolt check is to use a paint marker on the bolt flange and surface, so you can just visually see if the bolt have been rotating or not.

Great video as usual. I think you should put the wheels on and put the jeep on the ground with the track bar bolts loose and then torque to spec. If you do it in the air, you put a pre-load on the track bar bushings.

@andrewx115 жыл бұрын
To line up the track bar bolts, you can also set the Jeep down on the wheels. Then you can have a buddy steer back and forth. The Jeep will float left or right over the axle until the track bar is bolted in. That is assuming you have the tie rods in place
@ewingfox64595 жыл бұрын
Hey - Great idea with the ratchet strap to align things - easier than using a 4' bar while trying to get the bolt in with short Irish guy arms :)

The best way I found to do this is disassemble the old pieces and count the turns of the tie rod ends & turn the new ones in the same # of turns. But still get a alignment. Either way will get you to the alignment shop straighter than just eye balling it
@AndrewBrowner5 жыл бұрын
thats not gonna work very well with this kit since its not factory replacement... could be a way different length or have a different thread pitch seeing as the diameter is larger
@IRIDEBMX-ze7yg5 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewBrowner I can see that now, (Didn't think about that variable) I believe my way would work with a direct factory replacement. 👍
@brooktech78692 жыл бұрын
It really wont, not on Jeeps. You'll feel it out of alignment in 2 seconds you drive it veering left or right. Adjustments can be made simply by twisting it for this purpose. If you wheel, you do this after every trail. You can waste your money all you want or learn how to do it yourself. This isn't an IFS system. Its barebones old school straight axle for a reason. When you twist this Tie rod it adjusts on both ends anyway.
@jimwhitman58055 жыл бұрын
Saw a video where Jim from Dynatrac was saying they use a plastic liner on the drag link from the steering box. Doesn't take too much for that one spot to wear out just a bit to allow for that movement on the that bar.

To be clear you should do track bar first, tie rod second, and drag link last. Adjusting the tie rod will throw the drag link off, so you need to do the drag link last.

Every vehicle on the planet has flaws, some worse then others. No vehicle is manufactured perfect. If you love a type vehicle then you fix the flaws or live with em. Let's talk about the Toyota's that had the accelerator stick to the floor and killed several people. Maybe the Rolls Royce that had so much trouble with the electrical system that they left customers test driving them stranded on the road. Or the Cadillac Eldorado that's engine had so much power and the wheel lugs were under sized that it sheared the lugs off its front wheel drive and if you lived through it you got to watch your front wheels roll down the road as you shoot sparks skidding to a stop in the middle of the road. As I said "none are manufactured perfect"!

Make sure you cycle the suspension and turn the wheels in both directions... i found that putting the steering stabilizer on top of the tierod does not fit and will pinch between the steering links ...
