This is like the 12 uv unwrapping video I’ve watched and I never understood it until this one. I’ve been stuck for days.

Thank you so much for the wonderful tutorial. Very informative and I like the chill background music! 👍 I'm actually following a character modeling course on Udemy, but the head UV mapping video on the head was sort of glossed over and it really deserves more attention.

I know this is late but I followed your tutorial on how to sculpt a character, but when I click on UV Editing my character has a TON of vertices and everything is just orange. Everyone else has a lot less of them and can make seams and stuff, but I can't. I don't know how to fix the problem.

you need to retopologize the model first because the model you've sculpted has way to many verticies. just look up on youtube blender retopology and you'll find everything you need. hope this helps : )

When I go into uv editing, on the left side there's just nothing, only the empty grid, even with the whole model selected. Am I missing a step? I've watched the beginning of this video trying to analyse everything but I really don't know

Nope all objects have seams you just need to be smart and place them out of view

Hey @VeryHotShark (nice nickname, btw. :D). Is it possible to give a texture for example only to a nose and the rest has no material/texture? How would I do that in a few words? Do I need a vertex group for that? Thank you

You have to make several material slots and then in Edit Mode assign to each face of the mesh the material you want for that part. Search in KZbin "blender how to assign materials" or something like that and you'll find a tons of videos on that topic.

hello is it better to have little stretching on 10 UVs ,or 100 UV islands without stretching ?

It depends on what you want to texture, but overall less uvs are better since there will be less seams, but if you have hard surface stuff than having more islands is not bad. When you are making character then try to have less island

When I hit l then choose seam it selects everything except for the seam.

I think blender sometimes automatically unwrap it for you usually badly or you press something that unwarpped it already, but you can unwrap it again

Hi , you just need to select first one then select the last one with holding ctrl . it will select the shortest path

screw marvelous designer. i was hoping to create characters with animated cloth but MD triangulates the model and when i try to fit the animated cloth mesh on the quad version of the model some parts of the body gothrough the cloth as it moves. does someone know a solution to this situation?

Why can't blender users can make a Realistic looking Face Model for ONCE!? Every Model I have seen over the years has been a Cartoonish (Stylized) FACE.

Because Blender doesn't have a good performance when sculpting with high poly counts yet, which are required to make realistic work.
