Quickest way to move multiple object origins/pivots simultaneously in blender - in object mode: 1. make sure the base of all objects are level on whichever axis you're wanting to adjust. 2. Click the "options" drop-down in the upper right corner of the viewport and select "affect only origins" 3. select all applicable objects and just press g (move/translate); x, y, or z (for your axis of choice) and 0 to move them all to the zero point of that axis. aaand ya done.

is there a video of yours on how to weight paint your female character? i was cuting the topology a little for the shaders i was wanting to apply but now her one arm effects the other arm... do you have any suggestions? or should i just re:watch the whole rigging playlist of yours? i didn't mess with the rig.? am i just dum? (I'm a solo dev and i'm in a little inexperienced lol) btw where should i post images of stuff i'v made with your characters for you to be able to see?

@@GettingItUp Hey, no you're definitely not dumb - I think the other arm probably got painted from the mirror 'x' function or something. If you go to weight paint mode, you should be able to see what territory goes to what bone. The vid I'd recommend to start checking things out would be this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/apesdISjd6qnars Hope that helps -

And just for good measure, duplicate instances of the same object by using ALT + D instead of SHIFT + D to save up memory on exact duplicates. It also makes it so that when you edit one duplicate, all the editions will propagate into all the duplicates of the same object. Saves up time too. Thanks for sharing that website, I had no idea it existed.

The quickest way to move the pivot point is to... in Edit mode, select the vertices at the location you want to send your 3D cursor. Then press Shift + S and choose Cursor to Selected. After that, in Object mode with the object selected you go into your menu to choose Object> Set Origin> Set Origin to 3D Cursor. And bam, not a problem!
@nofabe
@nofabe 4 жыл бұрын
Even quicker, though not as accurate, would be enabling pivot-only transformation (top right "options", "affect only: origins") and dragging them down to where you need them - no need to go into edit mode, just select object, drag pivot down, then select next object Edit: you could enable snapping to snap them to vertices, faces etc for precision

How I would set the origin for all of those objects simultaneously: - A to select All - Object Properties tab > Set X and Y Location to 0 > Right-click X: Copy Single to Selected > Right-click Y: Copy Single to Selected - Object > Set Origin > Origin to 3D Cursor Every single item will be centered into the same spot on the X and Y axis, and then it uses the 3D cursor (preferably at the default 0,0,0) to batch-set the origin all to the bottom of all objects at once.

you can semi-easily move the origin/pivot point by selecting an object in object mode, going to edit mode, selecting the points/faces you want the origin in the middle of, hitting "move cursor to selected" or whatever it's called, going back to object mode, and hitting "set origin to cursor." there's also an add-on called JMesh (formerly Fast Carve) that does this with a button press after selecting your points/faces in edit mode.

the best way i know how to put object origins at the bottom: - select all objects - press Ctrl + , (comma key) - Ctrl + comma key toggles between transforming objects and origins - now you can simply move them to the bottom but what if the objects are of different sizes and have different origin center points? - do the first two steps above (select objects and press Ctrl + comma) - make sure your 3d cursor is centered on the global scene - change pivot point from Median Point to 3D Cursor - then scale it in the Z axis by zero you can also just scale it by zero without moving the pivot point and just move it to the bottom later on as the z locations of the origin points would get flattened anyway hope that helps.

In 'options', right above the viewport shading icons, you click 'origins' and you can more the origin point around (grab freely or lock to an axis). You can use the snapping functions as well with it :). Cheers and thanks for the video!!!!

3:30 there is a faster solution for moving multiple origins on a set plane. Just select the objects; navigate to the Tool "n"-panel; tick boxes for "affect only" origins and locations. The Origins option makes it so that move, scale, rotate transforms the origin (pivot point) instead of the object. The Location option removes any obj transforms from the selected object (its kinda hard to explain but its the same option as the "only locations" found by dragging the ":" key) If any of what i wrote doesn't make sense, pls comment. I'd be happy to help.

Something I just found out about pivoting that may help you: I installed PieMenu (default add-on) in attempt to mimic a better way to use gizmo and snaps. I "speak Maya" before Blender and in no possible way I agree that moving with G, Shift, XYZ is better XD But that's beyond what I was about to say: Reading PieMenu docs I found that Ctrl+Shift+X bring a Origin Menu and the 6h slot has "Origin to Bottom", just hit that and aligns origin to the lowest vertex in Z. Now I can properly move with this and dot menu though not as comfortable as V+D or X+D in Maya, but the 3D cursor has some charms.
@lmz000
@lmz000 3 жыл бұрын
@@BizlaC ah, I do agree! Been using it a lot more. I like Blender and it does soooo much, not locked to Maya. My point was getting Gizmo as an alternative because sometimes it helps me more and also a way to quick snap the origin for better placement as an alternative to moving 3d cursor and then adjusting.
@lmz000
@lmz000 3 жыл бұрын
@@BizlaC Yes! That's it! In my original comment I was still testing how to better manipulate the origin. Your explanation came way better, that's the point. I found this option clicking at "option" drop-down menu just above the four balls for viewport shading on the upper right corner next to Outliner, then set to a hotkey. Then I use this key with Ctrl for positioning like you said. That's why I use both gizmo and G-style moving, also, double G sometimes makes for fast adjust. Blender is awesome but this tweaks are "quality of life" changes and shouldn't be obscure. The only thing I rant about Blender at all is how some key functions comes disabled and/or hard to find. I've read a lot of comments looking for help like "that's by design, it's not a bug" or "it was built this way and not to follow other software". Well, then... Why use the best of other proven workflows since Blender is always evolving?!?! I went a little far here hehe Thanks for your time ;)

Kinda late to the party but one easier way to make all origins go to the bottom of the objects is to go to orthographic side view, align the bottom of all objects to the same level, on the top right side of the screen, while in object mode, on "options", "affect only" and check "origins", then select all objects, press S > press Z > press 0 so all origins will be aligned on the Z axis only, then press G and drag those origins to where all bottoms are aligned... and you're done Don't forget to uncheck "origins" btw

Making something complettley 100% from kit well it is good for concepts and just to lay down idea of which should final look like, using kits for final i would only to fill up backgrounds. If it is animated short and you would have room or bar with lots of complex small models, then it would make good time saver to fill up the empty space where something has to be, in the same time not so noticeable by vieveers, but never to use the complete kit for creating final main models. characters.

Instead of moving the objects you want to the object you want to replace place > select the object you want to replace > select the object you want to replace it with > ctrl + L > link Object and Data and now you have them linked so the changes you made in one of those apply to both, however if you wanna keep the original object separated and not linked with the other as a back up then > select one of the two > U > unlink object and data Merry Christmas everyone ! :D
