Just getting into hard surface modeling so I can model my own assets for a game, and gotta say I appreciate you for being so straight forward and demonstrating how to do this. About halfway thru my first weapon and all is going well so far thanks to Powersave and machine tools 😅 next paycheck I get hardops and boxcutter I think

Okay, I see what you're doing here and technically it'll work. However, this sort of methodology doesn't always apply in instances like ILM who would outright reject a portfolio cutting corners like this. Just saying, I'd urge all learning from channels like this, outright dirty modeling is nice and quick and great for prototyping but hardly ever acceptable when making assets for production.

That's true. Most VFX studios prefer to stick to traditional modeling and produce topology that'll just make everyone's life easier.
