ALSO, something I'd like to add - If you are doing game design specifically, it's good practice to use 1 rig for all your characters - Especially for things like fighting games, because it allows all the characters to share animations like falling down, taking damage, or getting thrown - Hope that helps and thanks for watching :)

Are you ever going to make a unity tutorial about this stuff? Since stuff like animations and rigs are saved in the fbx file I'm not sure how I'd go about reusing rigs between models...

Thanks for the tutorial man, but could you make maybe a 10 minute video or so on how to square uv unwrap models? I watched ur shorter tutorials but the i find whole uv unwrapping concept itself difficult to understand, would really appreciate if you could make a slower tutorial on square unwrapping

If you have time please make a detailed video of how to use metarig with mixamo for characters that have short limbs and have big belly / head. THese exagerations of proportions are barely covered in mixamo transfer to character made in blender. Ty

Quick dumb question just to clarify, we have to reposition the existing rig first before we could transfer weights…? I was thinking how effective this could be with some face rigs for characters who share the same facial structure.
@TheRoyalSkies2 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is correct. You want the bones to be in the right place before doing any weight paint related procedures -

Your (rigging) tutorials are a godsend. Thank you. Will you make a tutorial in the future on making those GUI rig controls? I'm not sure the exact name...but those rig UIs people make using custom shapes for controls different things like eyes, hands (open, close, etc). Maybe you already have a tutorial on it, I just don't know the word to search for 😅

I've been looking into this the last week and from what I can tell you're gonna want to search for "armature drivers" or just "drivers". Drivers can be added to all kinds of things and last night I was able to make a custom 2d UI graphic thing (small box inside tall box) and when I move the small box down or up my character switches between a sad or happy look. Moving the small box up and down simply uses a driver to control the slider for a shape key. Once you get your head wrapped around drivers and realize that drivers can be connected to anything you start seeing the possibilities. In Rigify you can scale finger bones to open or close the hand. Well, you could have a Suzanne head parented to your rig and create a driver so that when you scale the Suzanne head up or down you also open or close the hand. The next step is to get acquainted with constraints. You could use constraints so that the Suzanne head could only be scaled up or down so much corresponding with the opening and closing of the hand. This way the movement match. This should get you started. A tip is to search for "blender driver" and pick a tutorial with a character on the thumbnail. This is not beginner stuff but if you're patient you can definitely learn it.

I just started working with blender to add characters to VR Chat. Im literally two weeks into learning and i cant tell you how many times ive had to re-rig 1 character. This will make my process much faster when someone breaks and i cant find the issue. Thanks

as you may have noticed from some of my other commments, i want to be able to transfer rigs but unfortunately my characters have digitigrade legs which severely limits what rigs i can transfer, and i really want to know if i can somehow still do it and make the necessary adjustments if needed afterwards. it would be even cooler if i could use the unreal engine manniquin rig and then digitigrade it later. is anything like this theoretically possible? and would u consider doing a tutorial on it since there is a severe lack of decent digitigrade leg tutorials apart from your ones

is it really this simple? I've watched your other video's before so i shouldn't be surprised but i've been looking for this exactly. I cant exactly do animations with my current laptop since it's a college one but i have gotten into blender, trying to understand a few things and model rigging. i've been wanting so badly to apply Ik bones onto a certain model type and found one that had it but it's not an update one, the figure is similar but I wanted to apply the rig to the new ones so that bones flowed properly like the older one.

hello there,, i see you explain rigging and modeling is an such awesome way,, i learned all from watching youre videos,,, the thing i have issue now for example is animationg,,, i have like really really big issues with it,, for example when i have 2 seperate walking animation,, i cant change the directon of the foreward walking,, for example i have a walking foreward meximo animation,, and in my scene i want to walk in the foreward and than turn right,, but to achive this you have to do soo many stuff,,, it would be nice if you would cover more animation,,, like walking in a different terrain, grabing and ect.

so making a slightly less crappy model after another, and making rig for them, ISN"T a waste of time. I can transfer the rig to a better model? What a relief.

Hello. While using the shape keys, we can see the movements I made in the edit mode in the key and value sections. The part I'm wondering is, is it possible to create many movements in the edit and see them in a single value? So I meant to have it on a key without generating new keys

The thing that's confusing me right now is file management. For example, in the video you copy character B into character A's .blend file. Do you then "save as" and create a new .blend file? Since you've changed the position of the rig to match character B and even deleted some bones, what if you need to re-rig character A? The positions are now incorrect and some bones it needed are gone.

This channel has been really helpful and I was wondering which tutorial might be useful for basic movement for a plane. I am trying to animate the flaps rudder cockpit. but I just want it to to move in a basic direction in blender. as well as make it so if I just rotate a little in unity it would say move halfway or if I push a control stick all the way left it will move all the way left on screen. is there a tutorial you have I could look at? Yours have been the most helpful I could find on youtube.
