Thank you for making these, youre big awesome. With my limited amateurish knowledge of Blender these helps me make a simple albeit functioning character that i can be happy with. I hope you keep making videos about Blender even if theyre about different topics. Your channel is a hidden gem, the few that follows you treasures.

I wanted to part this super incredibly useful tip with you while doing the fingers-- yes, the very pesky fingers and mesh being in way and all of that-- well, suffer no more! ALT+B will be your super best friend in this processing when singling each troublemakinig finger out and put them back in their place. (**ALT** B, NOT CTRL-B) (yes i know this is 4 months later but i thought i'd still toss this useful knowledge out there anyway!)

The further into this series I get, the foggier my brain gets. I understand it all in theory, but doing all these tiny little steps along the way is breaking me down. I want to learn how to make VR avatars purely to make money because I'm broke as hell all the time.

for the finger bones you can use volume to move the bones. You need to click the magnet on top of your screen and click the pulldown tab next to it

Hi there, thank for this nice tutorial. I would like to know what is the point of chaning (fixing ?) the axis orientation of the bones (and why some should face inward, where for others it does not seem to matter)

I need a hand so in itself the armor doesn't symmetrize me and I had to do it manually, in the end when I tried to pose the character my face deforms when I bring my arms together, not much but it's as if there was a force field on the arm and body armor that doesn't go well with the head

Been looking forward to this. I wish there was a way to have a second rig like the human meta rig for doing custom animation stuff for an avatar.

hey rain, since it's probably coming up within the next couple videos, can you go into super detail about how unity works and the process of uploading a model into vr chat? ever since your first avatar class, it's something I'm still confused on.

Unparent the mesh by selecting the mesh, then the skeleton. Then right click > parent > clear parent OR alt + P. Then select the mesh(es), select the Data tab in the bottom right (green triangle with a dot for each corner), and then under the vertex groups, below the + and 0 buttons, hit click the down (V) button which opens a menu. Click 'Delete All Groups' in the menu. That's what has worked for me when I've had to restart with my weight painting a couple times now.

Hi I know this video is old but I have a question I’m working on a second project and I’m having this ammature problem and I wanna know do u have to add every bone in the body for it to work as an humanoid?
@Delusion_Dimension8 ай бұрын
my whole model is one mesh , its not separated like yours. is that a major problem? it doesnt have hair or pupils or a mouth though. but it has ears and a tail

I have question and I am interested did I shoot my self in a leg with this. I tried to be clever and have only thumb and index finger bones in both hands, to keep amount of bones low. My model wont have fingers so I rather use those bones for hair. Will this brake my avatar later on in unity? And does it still count as humanoid rig?

If you don't intend to animate any fingers for its animations, I imagine you don't need fingers.

I am doing a Vtuber commission and I havent found anywhere to let me know if the bones have to be named anything specific. I use an auto rig most of the time to help cut down on the set up time then fine tune from there but it doesnt name bones in the standard way so I am reluctant to use it without knowing the names wont interfere.
@RainhetChaneru Жыл бұрын
unity has a set of bone names that if you copy, it makes setting stuff up a lot faster and easier. that being said, if you use your own naming system you'll probably have to do a lot more manual stuff setting things up. it's very doable. i just don't reccomend it.

I think I have the same problem. It is like the eye-bone movements are applied twice? Vertex groups are empty beside of the eye-bone vertex groups. When I move my head-bone the eyes fall out of the head (like when the movements are applied twice) Do you find a solution?
@brabenetz8 ай бұрын
Never Mind: I found the reason for my Problem: I had TWO Amature-Modifiers on my Eye-Objects: one for each Vertex-Group "Left eye" and "Right eye". No idea how they were created (I made the avatar two years ago...)
