Great job! Thank you for this tutorial! P.S.: for anyone who try this with the 2.81a, keep in mind that the "Voronoi Texture" now is a bit different. To make material in a correct way, plug in "Distance" (and not "Color") of Voronoi in "Fac" of Bump! :D

If youre using in Blender v2.93 the voronoi texture changed so what you want to do is set it to 4D , smooth F1 and minkowski. Instead of color connection into the factor of the color ramp connect Distance and it should start working like the tutorial.

Thank you very much!! P.S: On 2.83, the wave texture node has a Detail Roughness slider that can achieve the same effect as putting the Noise node on the vector line, thus saving a step. Voronoi still needs it though.

Man, I've just made a mistake, but it resulted in the best node-based texture I've ever done. When you first create the second bump node (for the normal input of the first principled bump), connect the height input of this second bump to the mapping node output (instead of using the voronoi). You'll have a very good looking, crude-metal texture. PS: Beautiful tutorial, thank you very much!!

Granted I'm discovering these videos pretty late but I have a question. How to keep the outer surface bump/pattern out of the crevices. It would make sense that the outer surface would not be patterned exactly the same as the gouges. I used almost the same technique to make a rust pattern and added another color ramp into the roughness so that the rust would not be shiny. However, it would be better to completely separate the bump patterns for the shiny outer surface and the rusty or gouged out areas. I haven't figured out yet how to do that.

It seems obvious in hindsight but explaining why you are using the object output in the coordinate node was important for me. Tons of other tutorials will state which output to use, but rarely do they explain why.
