Came for how to do the cracks (4:57), but then I also learned something about mixing noises in the part before. Thanks for making these!

i know right! it never occured to me to put anything between the Texture coordinate and the Mapping nodes
@nibblrrr7124
@nibblrrr7124 4 жыл бұрын
@@alaslipknot Yeah, it's a really powerful technique. Adds subtle jitter to anything organic. Cranked up, it reminds me of oil paintings, fingerprints, liquid surfaces... Afaiu it's exactly what the _Distortion_ slider on some nodes does - but by manually adding (spatially correlated) noise to vector coordinates you can distort any texture.
@nibblrrr7124
@nibblrrr7124 4 жыл бұрын
Related: You can quantize/pixelate textures by using the Voronoi's _Location_ output. That "snaps" the input vector to the nearest cell's center. (Set random to 0 to make the cells square.)

This is exactly why I watch tutorials like this: I know my way around in blender and its nodesystem, but I would have never guessed that you can literally use mapping information in a mix RGB node. It makes sense if you think about it, but I never came up with this idea😅 That trick to get some detail into the cracks is awesome 👌👌 Thanks for the tutorial!

We are so spoiled with all this incredible free information provided by you and other amazing Blender KZbin artists. Thank you so much I can’t express how grateful I am for people like you sharing your knowledge!!! It’s also incredible that we all have free access to a software as powerful as Blender. I hope this never goes away!

Thank you!!! Very easy to follow and you explain everything in a reasonable time. Not too short like a 1 min video and not too long like 30 mins of random unrelated stuff.

Woah, super cool. I love the trick of the noise texture right in between the Texture coordinate and the mapping to control voronoi. Veeeery powerful.

I so badly wanted to make cracked asphalt and I tried so much stuff, but thanks to you so much , I now know how to make the noise affect the edges of voronoi or basically any texture , I was tryna plug in the factor of a mix having the noise and voronoi plugged! Thanks alot Sir!

For those who are sad because of the final of it; check the Ambient Occlusion under the Render Settings, this will make the cracks more dark (you can't do it with bump node as Ducky did, because his AO is already opened) Ducky doesn't tell this. But! Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial man! I love your channel, great works!
