If anyone's up for a little experimenting I think adding some greasepencil elements would look super cute with this model! The whiskers and face can easily be made with greasepencil, and as a bonus it can be animated pretty easily with some noise modifiers. Or adding a wand with magic greasepencil particles coming out! 3D and 2D mix so well specially for cute characters like this This is such a nice tutorial! I wish you success in your KZbin career. Will you be covering greasepencil in future videos? It's a lovely tool ☺️
@EveSculpts3 жыл бұрын
That’s such a great idea! Yes I totally agree, greasepencil and stylised characters go great together. I could imagine adding 2D elements to her when she emotes would look cute 👀 Will definitely consider doing a tutorial on greasepencil in the future as it’s a fantastic tool. Also thank you so much for the kind words, it really means a lot!

7:54 an awesome thing of blender that saves time is you can do math equations in your boxes. So if you click to modify the "1024" you can just add *2 (so it says "1024*2") and click enter and it will double it for you. You can use this anywhere and is really convenient. Another time saving tip in the same matter is instead of just clicking width first and then height you can hold your click on the first box and drag your mouse down to select multiple boxes so that whatever you type in the first box is also added to all others you selected. Hope this helps!

Just a tip for anybody that does not want to use blender's drawing tools and mouse users who like to use the pen tool. You can save the UV after filling and open it with your program of choice and then change the image. Bonus points for drawing it over another layer and hiding the bottom layer to remove the fill for using materials.

Wonderful tutorial, especially for someone like me who's been hesitating on getting started with Blender because of the staggering amount of complexity in the UI. I really appreciate that you go right into some helpful options and shortcuts from the first video, whereas explaining the basic steps might lose a beginner's attention before being told 'there's an easier way'. For future topics, I'm curious from an outsider's perspective about how I've seen models that use animated textures for facial expressions instead of moving geometry. If you go into animation tutorials, I'd love to learn about that! Thank you!

When trying to unwrap all objects at once the uv editor completely breaks the shape I redid the seam lines and fixed duplicate geometry multiple times, but it still comes out as broken, impossible shape It works fine when unwrapping them separately, but I can't seem to combine it into one uv map without breaking it What am I doing wrong?
@Ricardo-fm5wt Жыл бұрын
I thoroughly enjoyed the tutorial, I had a very hard time understanding UVs before this. I believe you do explain things really well. Plus the fact that we're getting a nice result (the cute wizard bunny) is what motivates us beginners to follow carefully and even take notes. I saw you have a patreon but I'm not really into the subscription format, I was wondering if you'd consider making a longer character creation course on a platform like Udemy. I've seen you have a couple ones but they're very short so they feel more like very premium YT videos. Thank you again and greetings from Spain!
@EveSculpts Жыл бұрын
I'm really glad the tutorial has been useful for you and it's helped with UVs! They can be frustrating to learn in the beginning. My course "Blender: Modeling Your First 3D Character", although only 4 hours long, is very in depth and shows the process of modelling a biped character from start to finish. It condenses the most important information and doesn't include any unnecessary info so that's why it's on the shorter side :) I would say it has way more value than a YT video but I understand that some people prefer longer format courses. Maybe in the future I'll do longer ones but at the moment I sadly don't have the capacity to. Either way, thank you for watching and for the support!

Watched because wanted a workflow for taking a 2d toon character and importing into blender whilst keeping the 2d look to make for fun rigging and animating. I'm not wanting it to look 3d in the output but just be able to use the model instead of redrawing each frame. I think thos video will help and would like to see more example videos. Specifically I'm wanting to extract from an existing cartoon or image and then edit the animation kind of like when people animate classical art but use cases can include modding a gif based on existing animations, etc

One of my meshes (The head and ears) is acting weird when I got to the painting process. The seams are all correct, I unwrapped everything and the paint bucket filled the mesh, but when I started adding the details using the paint brush the color is coming out like a spray, lots of little dots of color, and it doesn't fill the area no matter how much I stroke back where I want the color. I did not change any settings of the brush. When I select a new object (The dress) and try to paint, it worked. Anyone knows what this could be related to?
