I realize this is about three years too late, but thank you for this tutorial. This may actually help me in hair creation for my characters.

I watched this video a year ago, and never used it, but now I thought about making hair for my character, and dug up this video again, though am using blender2.8.. but still very helpful

This may be over 5 y old, but it’s what popped up when I looked up a freehand spline tutorial because I didn’t know how to effectively use this tool. This was very educational! Thanks for making it! I’ll definitely try it out on some organic shapes like vines and tails. 😄

UPDATE to the UPDATE: Ok, Alex! If I get the chance, I am going to make a hair build tutorial using the technique you showed us, and crediting you for your tutorial and pointing me in the right direction. There are a couple of other artists who had other detail techniques that I will credit as well, but your freehand curve technique is the basis for what really kicked this thing into full gear! Well done, bravo zulu, kudos, muchos congratulitos, and all those other accoladical gratitudinalizations! :)

Good over view of the tool.....would suggest you do what other keep forgetting to do and show beginners how to finalize their work: 1. Turn curves to Mesh 2. Use Bool Tool union selection to merge and use it for more tweeks, sculpt, etc. Otherwise, if they delete to original vertex curve they delete all the cures....just an idea

*Amazing tutorial. Subbed / Liked.* Simply love your enthusiasm, (It reminded me of me.) and you did it with no expletives.. Fantastic job Sir. One question. Is there a way to get the tubes to be angular. Like rectangular, or octagonal etc? Instead of round, Is this possible please?
@blendermania3d6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the Sub and like my friend! Appreciate it! :) Glad you like the tutorials! I'm not too sure about getting them angular....possibly with a modifier. However in the options I did not see that option

Your tutorial was very informative, thanks! However I am not getting it to work. My curves won't stick to the surface neither will my curves taper. I'm working with v. 2.79 and following the steps you talk about. I tried various settings but no luck. Can't figure out why.

I use this technique as pipping on a couch I made, looks great on blender, but when I try to take it to UE4, the couch looks great, but the pipping looks bad. I can't uv unwrap a bezier curve, so what to do?
@blendermania3d7 жыл бұрын
Hey Sathaporn! To unwrap a bezier curve you first need to switch it to a mesh :) hit ALT+C and then convert to mesh
@namdoyle7 жыл бұрын
is that a way to ignore the other curve ? so that each new curve snap on the reference object only?
@blendermania3d7 жыл бұрын
hmmmmmmmm not too sure about that. Unless they updated some options as in the video I went through pretty much everything

@blendermania3d6 жыл бұрын
A wacom pen and tablet is definitely good to use. It's not necessarily "better" just better if YOU are better with it. Some people work better with mouse and keyboard, some with pen. Up to you :)
